Accessing Data Using Data
The SLDS Program SLDS 09 (Round 3)
Data Governance (initial phase complete) “A system of decision rights and accountabilities for information-related processes, executed according to agreed upon models which describe who can take what actions with what information, and when, under what circumstances, using what methods”. – Data Governance Institute Metadata Management Tool (Start: July 2011) Implement a modern MDM tool to: Track data managed by Data Governance Maintain system’s metadata
The SLDS Program SLDS 09 (Round 3)
Researcher’s Sandbox (Start: Spring 2010) Provide approved data to researchers in a more efficient manner Automated Approval Process (Start: Spring 2012) Provide data more efficiently to external data requestors and FLDOE staff
The SLDS Program SLDS 09 ARRA (Round 4)
Upgrade PK-12, Florida Colleges and Workforce Education systems as part of EDW 2.0 (in progress) Consolidated model for the 3 systems and the EDW 2.0
Not your Dad’s EDW… Pilot implementation only; Statewide implementation to follow Statewide Unique Identifier (Start: July 2011) Provide an identifier that is unique across the state and across time Component to Teacher Student Data Link
The SLDS Program SLDS 09 ARRA (Round 4)
Report Building Tool(s) (Start: August 2011) Provide data to stakeholders in a user friendly format via the web Ability to access data without requiring MIS intervention Data Mining Tool(s) (Start: October 2011; internal capability only) To assist the FLDOE in applying business analytics to identify best practices and problem areas quicker and more accurately
