Reasons
Important studies on multiyear
basketball player preparation
The relationship between team final
standings and individual technical skills of
youth basketball players
E. Brandão*, M.A. Janeira & P. Neta
Faculty of Sports Science and Physical Education,
University of Porto, Portugal
Aim: to identify the degree of relationship between
team final standings and individual performance
skills
Subjects:
246 Basketball players, aged 12 - 14
Conclusion:
Strong relationship between offensive technical
indicators (Pass, Dribbling and Shooting) and
team final standings

FLAW NO. 3
Overloading in adolescence
Practicing is not “dressage”
a)“Straining” is caused by application of too big physical load to players…
b) Too little “drill variety” , “fun”, “spontaneity” – too much “trim” during the
practices…
c) Stress “kills” fast fiber – coaches should avoid it…
FLAW NO. 4
Too little attention paid to the training process
correction
Most important factors in the training
process:
- Testing
- Modelling
- Load individualization
- Load optimization
