5/6 Exploring
Sydney
By Jessica S, Shay-lee, Erin and Paige
The Outline
On the 9th and 10th of September 5 and 6 went on
a journey to Sydney. We went to Parliament
House, The Rocks, Darling Harbour, Chinatown,
Imax, The Hyde Park Barracks, Manly, Harbour
Bridge and the zoo. It was fantastic fun and we
all enjoyed it!
The Accommodation
The Accommodation we stayed in
was the Y hotel, Hyde park. The
rooms were small but cosy, Just
what we needed for a good’s night
sleep. Ha, Ha as if only two kids
stayed in their room the whole
night, besides the ones on floor 5.
The rooms had four beds in a line,
a wardrobe and a locker.
Breakfast at the hotel included
toast, cereal and juice
Four Seasons
When we boarded the harbour bridge we
got a dose of the four seasons in a half
hour crossing.
First we got bright sunny weather, then
gale force winds, then a dose of hard cold
hail, finally we got a load of torrential
rain.
This is the view
from the Harbour
Bridge
Parliament House
As we approaches State Parliament House
we could tell it was going to be quite fancy
and very quiet inside and guess what we
were right.
As we walked in we met our local member Mr Greg Piper
who said he would love to visit our school.
We were then led into the gallery where there was lots of
bantering between teams.
Hyde Park Barracks
The Wyee school 5/6 troupe got a very
educational and memorable tour around
Hyde park barracks
At Hyde park barracks we saw the
original sand stone buildings. That the
convicts constructed.
We also got the experience of what it is
like to lay in the hammocks, the
hammocks are replicas of the real
things.
The convicts weren’t aloud to play poker
so they hid the cards and their
belongings under the floorboards. Rats
also stole their belongings.
$Manly$
Walking around manly beach and manly
corso shopping centre with freedom going
through our heads was great fun.
At manly beach we had lunch which
contained of a sandwich a piece of fruit, a
cake and a drink of juice.
At the shopping centre we were allowed to
walk around and buy whatever we
wanted with the money we bought from
home!
Whizz, whoa, wow!
HYDE PARK BARRACKS
That’s what it was like at the Imax
theatre, We saw Hubble 3D, The
whole group was ducking, reaching,
grabbing as things popped out of the
screen. Hubble was about a space
telescope and all of its problems.
!YUM!
What should I chose, That
looks nice, no that looks
better!
The Chinese restaurant we
went to had loads of variety,
from white rice to roast duck.
All children were ‘stuffed’,
when we were walking back
to the hotel at around 8:00pm
in the pouring rain.
EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!
We also went to the art gallery, That was
definitely something we didn’t expect to
do.
At Taronga zoo, We had our final
dinner at Sydney which included a
BBQ dinner of Sausages, pasta and
salad.
The Original plans were to walk
around Darling Harbour, then
go to Chinatown, but it was
pouring rain so we went to Imax
theatre then to Chinatown.
We also went on a ferry called
Narrabeen we had heaps of fun on
the ferry as we cruised over the
glistening water.
