January 1998 : They established the WAP Forum,Ltd.
February 1998 : The first draft specification was published.
May 1998 : WAP Version 1.0 was released.
June 1999 : WAP Version 1.1
was released.
December 1999 : WAP Version 1.2 was approved.
April 2000 : The WAP Forum debut its new Interoperability Product Certification Program.

Forrester presumed that by 2004, one-third of all Europeans or more than 219 million consumers will use their mobile phones to access the Internet services.
90% of the e-commerce executives interviewed plan to launch Internet sites designed for mobile phones.
According to a report by Semico Research, it will become the dominant means of accessing the Internet in some years, when Web-enable phones will make up 79% of the unit volume of Internet appliances.
