What Did Jesus Do?
W D J D: What Did Jesus Do?
• When confronted with an adulteress?
• Upheld the Law of God!
– If a man is found lying with a woman married
to a husband, then both of them shall die-the
man that lay with the woman, and the woman;
so you shall put away the evil from Israel.
(Deut. 22:22)
– The man who commits adultery with another
man’s wife, he who commits adultery with his
neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the
adulteress, shall surely be put to death.
(Leviticus 20:10)
W D J D: What Did Jesus Do?
• When confronted with an adulteress?
• Upheld the Law of God!
– And if it is indeed true and certain that such an
abomination has been committed in Israel, then you
shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who
has committed that wicked thing, and shall stone to
death that man or woman with stones. Whoever is
deserving of death shall be put to death on the
testimony of two or three witnesses; he shall not be put
to death on the testimony of one witness. The hands of
the witnesses shall be the first against him to put him to
death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So you
shall put away the evil from among you. (Deut. 17:5-7)

W W J D: What Would Jesus Do?
• When faced with the sin of immodesty?
– But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman
to lust for her has already committed adultery
with her in his heart. (Matt. 5:28)
– Then He said to the disciples, It is impossible
that no offenses should come, but woe to him
through whom they do come! (Luke 17:1)
W W J D: What Would Jesus Do?
• When faced with the sin of immodesty?
• The Apostles taught Christ’s Will:
– And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of
heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall
have been bound in heaven, and whatever you
loose on earth shall have been loosed in
heaven. (Matt. 16:19)
– However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has
come, He will guide you into all truth; for He
will not speak on His own authority, but
whatever He hears He will speak; and He will
tell you things to come. (John 16:13)
WWJD: Immodesty
• In like manner also, that the women adorn
themselves in modest apparel, with
propriety and moderation, not with braided
hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing,
but, which is proper for women professing
godliness, with good works. (1 Tim. 2:9-10)
• Now the works of the flesh are evident,
which are: adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lewdness… (Gal. 5:19)
Immodesty - Guidelines
• Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made
tunics of skin, and clothed them. (Genesis 3:21)
• And you shall make for them linen trousers to
cover their nakedness; they shall reach from the
waist to the thighs. (Exodus 28:42)
• Take the millstones and grind meal. Remove your
veil, Take off the skirt, Uncover the thigh, Pass
through the rivers. Your nakedness shall be
uncovered, Yes, your shame will be seen; I will
take vengeance, And I will not arbitrate with a
man. (Isaiah 47:2-3)
W W J S: What Would Jesus Say?
• About worship?
– God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must
worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:24)
– And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and
sheep and doves, and the moneychangers doing
business. When He had made a whip of cords, He
drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the
oxen, and poured out the changers' money and
overturned the tables. And He said to those who sold
doves, Take these things away! Do not make My
Father's house a house of merchandise! Then His
disciples remembered that it was written, Zeal for Your
house has eaten Me up. (John 2:14-17)
W D J S: What Did Jesus Say?
• About worship?
– Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about
you, saying: “These people draw near to Me
with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they
worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the
commandments of men.” (Matt. 15:7-9)
– Whoever transgresses and does not abide in
the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He
who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both
the Father and the Son. (2 John 1:9)
