Competencies
The Professional Excellence program is
based on core competencies—the
skills, knowledge and behaviors that
support our values. Developing these
skills and behaviors creates the desired
culture and work environment to help
us achieve our vision of The Children’s
Way.
Our competencies describe how we
demonstrate our five values.
Development of these competencies
will allow CHS to attain its own brand
of professional excellence.
CHS’ value-driven competencies
include:
•Teamwork
•Communication
•Customer Service
•Building Trust
•Decision Making
•Adapting to Change
•Self Leadership
•Managing Work
•Managing Conflict
Comprehensive details regarding the
definition and development of the
competencies are available through our
new online system—OPALTM (Online
Performance and Learning). OPAL
provides tools for assessing
competency skill levels, advising on
key actions and developing
competencies. Access OPAL via
