Ensure that the key principles of the UK
Coaching Framework vision and the 5
strategic action areas, are fully inclusive
Ensure that all leadership courses and
access to leadership opportunities are fully
inclusive
Develop and deliver community sport training
and education programmes for the public
and voluntary sectors in disability sport
Inclusive Coaching Guidelines

Effective communication techniques (communication
skills)
Ability to adapt and modify (differentiation,
adaptation and progression)
Focus on ability NOT disability (functional v medical
models)
Understand and use the coaching environment
(appropriately modify and manipulate)

Disability sport has own unique pathways in
sport requiring coaching interventions at all
levels in the continuum

Disability sport coaching in some cases,
requires additional knowledge and
understanding of technical coach education

National Governing Bodies need to be
challenged to ensure that their coach
education modules are fully inclusive in
terms of their resource development and
delivery to candidates

Disability sport agenda is already very broad
 wide range of impairment groups
 necessity for pan disability approach
 too much emphasis on Paralympic sport is
not the best option

The UKDS-CLL group has a collective vision
and has made considerable progress in just
over two years
Specific representation on the Coaching
Strategy Group would be hugely beneficial to
all parties
