The Teaching of
Wealth and Giving
Matthew 5:41
“Give to the one who asks you, and do not reject the one who
wants to borrow from you.”
Matthew 6:19
“Do not store up
for yourselves
treasures on
earth. A man's
life does not
consist in the
abundance of
his
possessions.”
Matthew 6:24
“No one can serve two masters. He will hate the one and love
the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
Mark 6:21
“Sell everything you have.”
Mark 6:21
“And give to the poor.”
The Teaching of
Forgiveness and
Downfall
Matthew 6:14
Pray for forgiveness from others.
“But if you do not forgive others...”
Matthew 6:14
“...your Father will
not forgive you
your sins…”
Matthew 5:29
“If your right eye should be your downfall, tear it
out and throw it away. For it will do you less harm
then to have your whole body thrown into hell.”
Matthew 5:30
“And if your right hand should
be your downfall, cut it off
and throw it away. For it
will do you less harm to
lose one part of yourself
than to have your whole
body thrown into hell.”
The Teaching of
Communion
John 6
6:27 Work not for the food which perisheth, but for the food which
abideth unto eternal life, which the Son of man shall give unto you:
for him the Father, even God, hath sealed.
6:35 Jesus said unto them. I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me
shall not hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
6:47-51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth hath eternal life. I
am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness,
and they died. This is the bread which cometh down out of heaven,
that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which
came down out of heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live
for ever: yea and the bread which I will give is my flesh, for the life of
the world.
John 6
59,48
This is what Jesus taught at the synagogue in Capernaum: 'I
am the bread of life.‘
John 6
49,51
'Your fathers ate
manna in the desert
and they are dead. I
am the living bread.
Anyone who eats this
bread will live forever.
And the bread that I
shall give is my flesh.'
John 6:52
Then the Jews started arguing
amongst themselves,
'How can this man give us his
flesh to eat?'
John 6:53
Jesus replied to them, 'In truth I
tell you, if you do not eat the flesh
of the Son of Man or drink his
blood, you have no life in you.'
John 6:60
After hearing this,
many of his
followers said, 'This
is intolerable
language. How
could anyone
accept it?'
After this, many of
his disciples went
away and
accompanied him
no more.
