Atrial and Ventricular Rhythms
Atrial rhythms
Do not always have a visible P
wave
Usually have a QRS
May have a T wave also, but it
may be hidden.
Which rhythm is this???
Atrial Flutter
Notice the regular but too-frequent P waves
Which rhythm is this???
Atrial fibrillation (A-Fib)
Notice the lack of visible P waves and irregular
QRS rhythm
Which rhythm is this???
Premature Atrial Contraction (PAC)
Notice the “spiky” P-wave before the premature beat
Ventricular rhythms
QRS is abnormal
May or may not be able to see
normal P waves

Premature Ventricular Contraction
(PVC)
Notice the wide QRS in this one
Which rhythm is this???
Ventricular tachycardia (V Tach)
Notice the “V” rhythm and lack of visible P or T waves
Which rhythm is this???
Ventricular fibrillation (V Fib)
Notice that you can’t really tell what any of these parts are

Asystole
Notice the total lack of electrical activity on this one
