Federal & State officials are investigating an
outbreak of H1N1 influenza in humans.
Currently, there are 2 confirmed cases in
New Hampshire.
Cases have been confirmed in 41 states, as
well as internationally. There has been
two (2) report of deaths in the U.S.
Facts About H1N1 Influenza
H1N1 influenza is a respiratory disease of
pigs. It is caused by a virus.
People do not normally get H1N1 influenza,
but it can be passed to humans.
H1N1 influenza has been known to pass
from person-to-person.
Facts About H1N1 Influenza
H1N1 Influenza is thought to spread in the
same way as Seasonal Flu. Flu viruses spread
from person-to-person through coughing or
sneezing and sharing utensils or drinks. People
may become infected by touching something
with flu viruses on it and then touching their
mouth, nose, or eyes.

There are several ways we can prevent the
spread of H1N1 influenza:

Cover coughs & sneezes

Wash hands often

Stay home when sick

Ways to prevent flu:
1. Cover coughs & sneezes
•Use tissues or cough & sneeze into
your shirt sleeve
•Coughing & sneezing into hands can
spread flu.
•Do not share utensils or drinks.

2. Wash hands often
•Use warm water and soap for 20
seconds
•Alcohol-based hand sanitizers also
work
•Avoid touching your mouth, nose &
eyes
