PRECISION SHIMMING
• Laminated peelable shims
A laminated peelable shim is made up of a stack of individual layers glued together over their
complete surface area and forming a laminated block of compact appearance. The individual
layers may be peeled off one at a time until the precise dimension required is obtained.
• Viewtek laminated peelable shims
These are laminated peelable shims in composite materials using a process for marking the
thickness of the individual layers on the middle section of the part. By transparency, the thickness of
the layer that is being peeled off should make it much easier to use. That reduces assembly times.
• Bi-composed laminated peelable shims
Bi-composition enables laminated peelable shims to be obtained that are made of layers of
different thicknesses on each surface, marked by an exclusive colouring process. They enable
the operator to carry out his adjustment by peeling off the thicker layers from one side and
then peeling off a few thinner layers from the other.
• Separable shims
Separable shims are made up of a stack of individual layers stuck together by points of glue on the
edge alone. The right thickness is done very easily by removing the layers by hand. Separable shims
are mainly used for assemblies in difficult exterior situations.
• Solid shims
Solid shims, whether ground or not, are used in all cases in which serious constraints apply
(vibration, traction, shearing or extremes of temperature). They are of extremely high precision,
strictly made to measure and for immediate use on site.
• Extra-thin shims
These are solid shims that provide compensation of play that is often less than 1/10th of a
millimetre. Whatever their shape, these parts are machined which guarantees a very high precision part
without any burrs.

THE PEELABLE LAMINATED SHIM
An adjustment shim made of a laminated material consisting of
a pile of very thin individual sheets assembled by bonding.
It is very easy to peel off the basic sheets to obtain the precise
required thickness.
This process avoids the machining and rectification of solid
shims or piles of metal foil thus avoiding deformation.

OUR TECHNOLOGY

Adhesive is applied continuously in
layer of negligible thickness using a
special process developed by the Jicey
R&D department, to ensure perfect
alignment of the finished parts.
High precision machining and
cutting
Jicey designs and manufactures its
own cutting tools served by a wide
range of mechanical or hydraulic
presses, whether automatic or not,
the power of which varies from
between 10 to 200 tonnes.
Jicey also employs the most modern
laser and water jet cutting techniques
and the electro-erosion metal working
process, within the framework of
partnerships.
QUALITY CONTROL
The dimensional inspection
Jicey inspects its parts on a 2D video
measuring table (900 x 600 mm) with a
precision to less than 0.01mm. These
measurements are taken without contact,
which allows us to measure non-rigid
materials or basic sheets of laminated
materials without deforming parts.
Traceability
Jicey offers several forms of traceability with the issue of
certificates of conformity, analysis of metals and the
dimensional inspection of parts.
Traceability is recorded systematically over a period of 2
months or 15 years as an option.
Delegation of inspection, approval of suppliers
Jicey has obtained the approval and delegation of inspection from many prestigious
industrial companies.
