Recycle GB
Creations
Introduction
In this presentation I am going to showcase all of the
graphics that I have created for the recycling website
Recycle GB. I will use Macromedia to create my graphics
and each of them will fit in with the website by using a
similar colour scheme to it. My graphics will all also fit in
with my house style, which is a mixture of greens, white
and black, with the font Arial and the sizes varying.
Software Used
Rollover Buttons & Navigational Bar:
I used the program Macromedia Fireworks 8 to create my Rollover Buttons
and Navigational Bar. This software allowed me to create buttons with popup menus.
Advertising Banner:
I used the program Macromedia Flash Professional 8 to create my
Advertising Banner. This software allowed me to create an animation.

Rollover Buttons
The purpose of my rollover buttons is to allow users to navigate around
the Recycle GB website quickly and easily. When a cursor hovers over
the buttons they change their appearance. The buttons will to navigate to
the Home Page, About Us and Contact Us. The target audience for the
buttons is young adults living in their first home. I have made this
appropriate for them by using a professional design with a bright colour
scheme to make it more appealing. The colour scheme/ house style I
have used is greens, black and white; this is so that it will fit in with the
Recycle GB website’s colour scheme. The colours are also associated
with recycling and being ‘green’/ environmentally friendly. My font size is
size 26 Arial and my font colour is light green/white with a black outline.
My buttons are no more than 30 pixels high and 200 pixels wide so that it
can fit onto the website.

Here are my Rollover Buttons. The first screenshots are the up state
of the button and the second are the over state. As you can see the
two states differ in the ways that I stated.
Optimised
I optimised all of my Rollover
Buttons for the Recycle GB Website.
I did this by clicking the export
button on Macromedia Fireworks 8.
As you can see the exported files
are much smaller in file size when
compared to the PNG file. This
means that the images will load
much faster on the internet page.
Navigational Block
The purpose of my navigation block is to allow users to see the areas that
they can visit on the Recycle GB website. The target audience for my
block is young adults living in their first home, so I made the font modern
yet professional, I also didn’t make the colours too bright so that they
don’t put off those who look at them. I used a colour scheme of greens,
white and black to fit in with the Recycle GB website. I have also kept the
font in Arial, as this is my house style and the font size is 16. The font
colour is white/green with a black outline, except for the pop-up menus as
I cannot add an outline to the text on them. Each button in the block will
be 175px by 30px and I am making 5 different buttons, so my overall box
size will be 175px by 150px, this is so that the buttons and the block will fit
onto the website. I used the vector rectangle tool to create a rectangle
which acted as the background for my block.

Here are the stages of my navigational block. 1 is a screenshot of the
block before a mouse is hovering over it. 2 is when a mouse is hovering
over the title of each area; which in turn makes the Pop-up menu appear.
3 is the Pop-up menu when the mouse hovers over the Pop-up titles.
Optimised
I optimised my Navigational
Block for the Recycle GB
website. I did this by clicking
the export button on
Macromedia Fireworks 8. As
you can see the exported files
are all a significant amount
smaller than the PNG file.
This means that uploading the
different files onto the internet
will be much faster, and in
turn the internet page will load
faster too.
Advertising Banner
The purpose of my Advertising Banner is to advertise the website for
Recycle GB, by appearing on websites as an animation. The target
audience for my banner is young adults living in their first home, so I
made the font modern yet professional, I also didn’t make the colours too
bright so that they don’t put off those who look at them. I used a colour
scheme of green and white to fit in with the Recycle GB website. I have
also kept the font in Arial, as this is my house style and the size of my font
varies because of the length of the writing I used. The font colour I used is
white, which is also apart of my house style. The physical size of my
advertising banner is 445pixels x 80pixels. The file size of my advertising
banner is 11.9 KB (12,206 bytes), which means that it is a small size in
comparison in terms of an animation so it will load quickly on an internet
page.
Optimised
I optimised my Advertising Banner
for the Recycle GB website. I did
this by clicking the export button on
Macromedia Fireworks 8. As you
can see the export is going to be
compressed making it smaller but it
will still have a high JEPG quality.
This will allow my Advertising
Banner to load quickly and easily
on the internet.
