independently with appropriate facilities

Project Scope
• 275 Apartments of extra care housing for
older people (7 schemes)
• 58 Apartments for people with learning
disabilities (9 clusters of apartments)
• 7 Apartments for people with mental health
problems
• Spread across 10 Districts and 12 sites
• £72 million funding - PFI Credits

Private Finance Initiative
• Long term risk sharing relationship
between public and private sectors
• Typically 30 year contracts - costed on
‘whole life’ basis
• Public sector specifies outputs
• Private sector designs, builds, finances
and operates asset
