Behavior Support” in your Faculty
Manual.
What is PBS?
Process
that builds an environment in
which positive behavior is more
effective for the student than problem
behavior.
Provides a positive and effective
alternative to the traditional methods of
discipline.
What is PBS??
Emphasizes
the use of preventive,
teaching and reinforcement-based
strategies to achieve meaningful and
durable behavior and lifestyle
outcomes.
What is PBS?
Relies on accurate and reliable discipline referral
data to understand the behaviors occurring
across campus.
Analysis of the data allows for identification of
problem areas → brainstorm interventions such
as where and what to teach, reward the students
exhibiting the expected behavior, and
communicate findings.
Critical Elements
Teaching students our Expectations and our
Rules for Behavior.
Rewarding students when they meet or
exceed our Expectations and follow our
Rules.
Consistency in our school processes and
procedures.
Use of data to identify problems and make
intervention decision.
