How to register in the Participant Portal…
… and how to get a PIC.

Participant Portal – 1.1
Go to the following link:

You will arrive at the homepage of the Participant Portal:

Do you have an ECAS account? If yes, proceed with the login (tutorial p.10), if no,
click on the link given under “Are you a new user?” or on the “Register” button at the
top right-hand corner:

ECAS – Sign up – 1.1
You will be transferred to the login page of ECAS (European Commission
Authentication Service). This platform allows authorised users to access a wide range
of Commission information systems (e.g. you the Participant Portal).

You can now choose your language at the top right-hand corner. Fill in the boxes
marked with *. Enter the code in the box (if you cannot read it, click the reload button
next to it). Read the privacy statement and tick the box, if you agree.

Your registration in ECAS has been successful.

ECAS – confirmation email
Within the next few minutes, you will receive a confirmation email containing a link.
To activate your account, you should click on the link provided within the next 90
minutes.

Clicking on the link brings you back to the ECAS site where you can now choose a
password for your account. Please be sure to choose a safe password, including
special characters and numbers.

… instead, return to the Participant Portal and click on login. It is important to go back
to the above page to log in because otherwise the ECAS site will not know where to
direct you.

You are again transferred to the Participant Portal. Your name at the top right-hand
corner indicates that you are now logged in. Choose the tab “Organisations”.

Enter the name of your organisation and choose the country where it is situated
(Switzerland is at the bottom of the list, the EU countries come first):

Congratulations! You have completed the registration process. The PIC number
created must be introduced in all forms (application, report, ect.) and will spare you
the work of again tipping the details you’ve just saved.
