class evaluation 2 Refresher Training By the end of this refresher training you will be able to: • Organize and teach GI-BMP classes in 2015 • Describe the 2014 program updates Maintaining Instructor Certification * • Follow the prescribed content • Follow the length of time allotted for each module • Keep current with all GI-BMP materials • Use only the most current versions of all materials • Complete refreshers and follow updates • Teach at least one module per year 4 New Class Evaluation 2015 Please use ONLY the new survey for 2015 classes o The survey is available for download from the Instructor Resources site o http://ffl.ifas.ufl.edu/gibmp_instructor.html For best results: o Go over the evaluation instructions o Answer any questions o Administer the evaluation before the http://ffl.ifas.ufl.edu/instructor-gl.htm – May take several days 2) Create a “GatorLink” username (UF computer login) 3) Notify state office to authorize your account Assistants should request accounts in their own name. 10 GI-BMP Training Site* https://gibmp.ifas.ufl.edu 11 Training Provider Capabilities • Add, update, or cancel class postings directly on the website • Online registration • Print pre-filled training record forms • Submit class attendance data online • Send mass emails to students or participating instructors 12 Scheduling In-Person Classes • Only certified instructors can conduct classes • Schedule all classes at least 30 days in advance • “Add New Class” online form (GI-BMP Training Site) o Class is published to statewide schedule o Be sure you get online verification / email confirmation • If class is not on the statewide schedule >> no training certificates 13 Instructor Resources Site* • Resources required to organize a class • Download the latest Training • It belongs to the participant • Participants need to keep the original and submit copies if needed • Does not require renewal 15 Limited Certification for Urban Landscape Commercial Fertilizer Online Application: https://aesecomm.freshfromflorida.com/ (Appendix 7) • All commercial fertilizer applicators, by January 1, 2014 • Online or paper application • $25 fee, GI-BMP certificate number or copy, photo • Holders exempt from further local testing Paper Application: http://forms.freshfromflorida.com/13677.pdf • Not required for private or institutional applicators o Institutional applicators do require GIBMP training • Renew every 4 years, 4 CEUs 16 Limited Certification for Urban Landscape Commercial Fertilizer • Authority to apply only fertilizers in urban landscapes for commercial gain • Does not authorize: o Application of pesticides, including pesticide-fertilizer mixes [i.e. weed and feed] o Operation of pest control business o Application of pesticides or fertilizers by unlicensed or uncertified individuals under the supervision of a certified person 17 In-Person Class Fee • Modest reimbursement for training expenses [$15-$30] – classroom rental, copies, other materials, etc. • If charging more than $30, you need to submit a justification to state office • FDEP does not permit any type of compensation for instructors, except as part of normal duties of employment 18 30-Day Waiver* • If a class is added less than 30 days in advance, class will not be published until approved • Complete form to request approval (available from online Instructor Resources) • Requests will be based on: o Weather idling the workforce o Unexpected or uncontrollable event • Approved by the Regional Coordinator or the Statewide Coordinator 19 Class Cancellations • Cancel the class online (GI-BMP Training Site) • Notify registered participants [by phone] • For insufficient enrollment: o Under 10 registered o 3 days notice 20 Continuing Education • Allow extra time for instructions and bubbling • Instructions in Module 1: Introduction • Return unused tests • Name and DOB on the test must match the training record 23 Review before the Test •
