Refresher Training
By the end of this refresher training you will be able to:
• Organize and teach GI-BMP classes in 2015
• Describe the 2014 program updates
Maintaining Instructor Certification *
• Follow the prescribed content
• Follow the length of time allotted for each module
• Keep current with all GI-BMP materials
• Use only the most current versions of all materials
• Complete refreshers and follow updates
• Teach at least one module per year

o The survey is available for download from the Instructor Resources site

 For best results:
o Go over the evaluation instructions
o Answer any questions
o Administer the evaluation before the post-test
o Collect along with the post-test

New Training Provider Login
Three steps to Training Provider access:
1) Get a UF ID number:
– http://ffl.ifas.ufl.edu/instructor-gl.htm
– May take several days
2) Create a “GatorLink” username (UF computer login)
3) Notify state office to authorize your account
Assistants should request accounts in their own name.

Training Provider Capabilities
• Add, update, or cancel class postings directly on the website
• Online registration

Scheduling In-Person Classes
• Only certified instructors can conduct classes
• Schedule all classes at least 30 days in advance

Limited Certification for Urban Landscape Commercial Fertilizer
• Authority to apply only fertilizers in urban landscapes for commercial gain
• Does not authorize:
o
Application of pesticides, including pesticide-fertilizer mixes [i.e. weed and feed]
o
Operation of pest control business
o
Application of pesticides or fertilizers by unlicensed or uncertified individuals
under the supervision of a certified person

In-Person Class Fee
• Modest reimbursement for training expenses [$15-$30] – classroom rental,
copies, other materials, etc.
• If charging more than $30, you need to submit a justification to state office
• FDEP does not permit any type of compensation for instructors, except as part
of normal duties of employment

30-Day Waiver*
• If a class is added less than 30 days in advance, class will not
be published until approved
• Complete form to request approval

• Requests will be based on:

Weather idling the workforce

Unexpected or uncontrollable event
• Approved by the Regional Coordinator or the Statewide
Coordinator
