Vet ABC Troubleshooting CHANGING THE PACK • Service menu Change Pack Remove the old pack etc. (on-screen instructions) • Remove the Red caps from the new pack • Install new pack ensuring arrows have disappeared • Prime the new pack into an open vessel • Re-install waste pipe onto new pipe • Write on the pack the installation date Operational Problems • • • • Basic understanding of how the ABC works Function of the main components How to spot potential problems How to carry out minor repairs “STARTUP FAILED CHECK REAGENTS” Blank values high: PLT high, pack can be contaminated, reagent too cold Perform concentrated cleaning or change pack Electromagnetic noise (X-rays) Isolate Vet ABC and run start-up “STARTUP FAILED CHECK REAGENTS” If other parameters are OK, photometer blank failed Check photometer (see below) Pack was shaken while in transport (bubbles) After Transport by a carrier, wait 1-2 hours before installation Tube on valve, needle, chamber or dispenser block is loose Check tube connections and repair if possible “SENSOR DEFECT OR REAGENT EMPTY” • Pack wasn’t installed properly • Re-seat the pack ensuring arrows have disappeared • Valve on base of pack has collapsed inwards • Adjust the position of the valve • Pack is empty • Change the pack “SENSOR DEFECT OR REAGENT EMPTY” • Pack is distended with excess air • “Burp” the pack • Red caps were not removed • Remove the Red caps • Waste tube is blocked or bent • Check tube is free of obstructions “ERROR: MOTOR PRESSURE SYRINGE” • Pack is distended with excess air • “Burp” the pack • Piston is pushed out of chamber by high pressure • Re-install the piston • Piston is sticking • Check movement – Service menu Pressure Syringe. Mechanic “ERROR: LIQUID SYRINGE MOTOR” • Piston or gear is damaged • Check movement – Service menu Syringe Mechanic • Dilution Block is damaged • Check for leaks – Call Woodley Equipment. Liquid “START-UP FAILED HGB REFERENCE FAILURE” • WBC Chamber is contaminated • Run concentrated clean • Reagent is contaminated • Change pack “START-UP FAILED HGB REFERENCE FAILURE” • No reagent is available • Prime the pack – check that reagent appears in chambers • Photometer is out of adjustment • Run concentrated clean; Check photometer adjustment – Service menu Technician Adjustments IF IN ANY DOUBT CALL WOODLEY!
