Module 6 - consists entirely of evaluation

Modules 7 & 8
- enable students to “drill down” in one of the
major competency areas of their choice
- serve as platform for “life-long learning” and
perhaps specialization
- make available to existing CAs to
help them “retool”

Each Module:
- consists of ten weeks of online facilitated
learning, followed by
- a 3-day interactive face-to-face session where
students involved in group work,
presentations, role-playing, debates, etc.

The Program:
- takes 24 months to complete (experience
requirement is 36 months)
- is one giant ongoing case simulation
- student part of a simulated CA Firm
- series of clients & engagements

Primary objective is to improve the connection
between our education program and the
student’s work experience
- students are employed in an approved training
office while taking the program
- what a students learns this week in a module
they can apply next day on the job

Use WebCT as platform for e-mails, bulletin
board and chat rooms
Content designed using Flash to provide basic
multi-media presentation
Minimize hardware and software
requirements for students
Provide toll-free help desk support

Entire program is electronic:
Students must have current browser, wordprocessing, spreadsheet, database and
presentation software
We provide Tax software, Caseware for working
paper production and the CICA Virtual
Professional Library

Pedagogy
Emphasis on “continuous learning” and
“continuous evaluation”
Each student assigned to a cohort of 30
Communicate with facilitator by e-mail (24 hour
turnaround)
Facilitator “office hours” in chat room

Assessment
Students complete tasks for each unit
Submit as e-mail attachment to reviewer (48
hour turnaround)
Review is competency-based identifying
deficiencies
Students must re-submit until
competency achieved (50%)
