large pressure surges due to cavity formation.
Vacuum breakers are used to eliminate them.
• In this system, the large capacity of the bridge
connection between the platforms combined with the
elasticity of GRP material was instrumental in

• There were flow control valves in the system
• The allowable working pressure had a very
narrow range.

flowing back into the system if the pumps tripped
