Network for the research school

• • The units for general practice at the universities of Umeå, Linköping and Göteborg formed a network to start the research school in 2009 These units made up 3 of the 6 university units of general practice in 2009 in Sweden • Broad experience of teaching > 10 professors > 25 senior lecturers > 25 other teachers with a DMSc LL 06b

• 60 research students (mostly females, age around 35-45) have been admitted during 2010-14 • “All” were registered at their home university and before their mid-seminar when admitted • 10 research students will be added in 2015 and 2016; hence 80 in all • About 20 will hopefully make a “pre-doc” outside Scandinavia and a third of them a “post-doc” as well

Plans for the future

“Pre-doc” activities will be intensified The annual residential meetings will continue after year two, but the school can not cover the full cost The researchers are invited to join the research school’s Alumni group after dissertation and meet annually, but the school can not cover the full cost The school will (hopefully) continue after 2018 but further funding must be obtained

Strengths: The school is well established, good reputation, many applicants, favourable assessments by the research students (in all, 60 today), “pre-docs” vey well received Weaknesses: A lot depends on the input of the director (especially the international part) .
