SEMICONDUCTOR Companies felt they needed more ESH data to
determine the potential adverse effects of chemicals and thus
implement the appropriate controls to protect employees and the
environment
A comprehensive list of over 75 chemical properties was developed
Feasibility and cost issues associated with obtaining all of the 75
chemical properties was an issue
SEMICONDUCTOR Industry Organizations got together to develop a
more feasible approach to obtaining the needed chemical data.
Approach was used and piloted with suppliers and member companies
Approach and format was ratified by WSC trade associations and
SEMATECH member companies
WSC trade association member to start implementation in 2005

Scope
• The CPIF is intended to be a supplement to the
Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) to collect
additional information not already provided on the
Safety Data Sheet.
• The data and information used to populate the
CPIF should come from the following sources:
Manufacture’s MSDS
Public Databases
Structural Activity relationship data, model data,
professional judgment

Prepared by ISMI
10
Format
• Completion of the WSC-CPIF is acquired by
following an EASY 3-Step process:
• STEP 1: ENTER SUPPLIER INFORMATION
• STEP 2: ENTER PRODUCT INFORMATION
• STEP 3: ENTER INDIVIDUAL CONSTITUENT INFORMATION

11
Format Continued
• The WSC CPIF identifies a set of chemical categories and
associated chemical properties that are necessary to provide
member companies the needed information to make timely,
sound and accurate ESH decisions on new chemicals.
• The data types/chemical properties were consolidated into three
basic areas:
Human Health
Environmental
Chemical/Physical
• The areas are further consolidated into key sub-categories.
