Exploring New Approaches: Web 2.0
Definition
"Web 2.0" stands for the idea that the Internet is evolving from a collection of
static pages into a vehicle for software services, especially those that foster
self-publishing, participation, and collaboration”.
(Technology Review: http://www.technologyreview.com/Infotech/14869/?a=f)
Web 2.0 has numerous definitions. O'Reilly regards Web 2.0 as …the web as a
platform and using its strengths (global audiences, for example [by] building
applications and services around the unique features of the Internet…. an
architecture of participation where users can contribute [and where] website
content creates network effects. Web 2.0 technologies tend to foster innovation
in the assembly of systems and sites composed by pulling together features
from distributed, independent developers….
