Our Acceleration Philosophy


“Challenge without overwhelming”
Shenendehowa provides
accelerated programs not only to
satisfy state mandates, but also
to meet the needs of our
diverse community of learners.
Students who accelerate
successfully:






Have a high level of interest in the subject area
Grasp ideas quickly in order to effectively manage
the pace of the curriculum
Demonstrate creativity and critical thinking
Communicate (read, write, speak, and listen) at or
above grade level
Work collaboratively to solve authentic problems
and issues
Demonstrate the interest in and ability to reflect
on their learning, as well as provide feedback on
ideas proposed by others




Recognize the additional responsibility and effort
that is required for this level of class
Complete work on time and demonstrate the time
and effort that goes into completing complex
assignments
Take initiative to seek assistance from their
teacher when it is needed
Follow the Academic Integrity Policy as expected
of all Shenendehowa students
