Action
Changes
Things
YOUR actions will change your futures!!
• Be
Flexible
- Agree a balance between work and social life.
- Compromise, but keep your eye on the situation.
• Keep
Positive
- Encourage, don’t nag.
- Reward, don’t bribe.
“My work’s
on the
computer
at
school...”
“It doesn’t
have to be in
for ages – I’ve
got loads of
time...”
“We didn’t get
homework
because there
was a cover
teacher...”
“I need to be
in the library
at school to do
it – I’ll do it
tomorrow...”
“I’m doing
that with a
friend and
she’s got the
book...”
“Mr X never
gives us
homework..”
“I’ve not got any
homework...”
They’re lying!!
But still handle them with
care!!!!
• Regularly ask where they’re up to /
what they’re working on.
• Agree / suggest a solution but ask
to see the outcome!
• Check their School Diary.
• If in doubt, contact the subject
teacher.

A revision timetable
 Choose
a good revision guide for each
subject (ask subject staff).
 Find somewhere for them to study – and
remove temptation if necessary!
 Provide


plenty of snacks and water.
“Check-in” regularly.
Trust them!!
“I hate this
subject/teacher –
I’m going to drop
it...”
• Keep perspective – two and a
half terms remain.
• Ask: “What is it specifically
that you find hard?”
• Find out: “What would make it
more bearable?”
• It’s never too late!
“I’ve left it too
late to revise...”
• Prioritise, focus and identify
key areas.
In fact some stress is necessary for success!
BUT you can help by ...
 encouraging them to take regular time
out and exercise
 putting the whole exam period into
perspective – ‘What’s the worst that can
happen?’
 keeping focused on what they’ve
already achieved.
