IT CONSTITUTES INTEGRAL PART OF NDU, WITH ITS OWN INTERNAL
ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

MORE THAN 860,000 VOLUMES COMPRISE MAIN LIBRARY BOOK
COLLECTION. THESE INCLUDE 350 OLD PIECES, ABOUT 22000 DEDICATED
MAGAZINES AND ABOUT 140,000 SPECIAL PIECES (MAPS)

MAIN LIBRARY BOOK COLLECTION INCLUDES PIECES IN POLISH AND
FOREIGN LANGUAGUES (GERMAN, ENGLISH, RUSSIAN, FRENCH),
CONCERNING MAINLY INTERNATIONAL POLITICS, STATE SECURITY AND
DEFENCE, KINDS OF ARMED FORCES, ART OF WAR, STRATEGY AND
TACTICS, HISTORY OF POLAND, HISTORY OF WARS AND MILITARY AFFAIRS

MODERN TECHNOLOGIES
„Sowa” integrated computer system enables internal
management of the library
„Sowa” system includes the following modules:
• collecting and cataloguing collections, including exchanging
descriptions with other libraries
• making collections available, lending books and serving
readers using online public access catalogue (OPAC)
In addition, the system enables readers to use electronic
books.

NDU digital library
NDU digital library enables readers to:
• use digitalized collections of the library (articles, scientific
and research works as well as qualification works)
• have access to commercial electronic publications, books
(IBUK database) and scientific journals (EBSCO, JANE).
NDU library are currently working on organizing digital repository in the
library. It is the most important task at present and it takes place through
digitalization of all publications concerning state security and defence,
as well as making these available online in NDU digital library (it is a
matter of copyright laws).
