What is AΩA?



Alpha Omega Alpha
National medical honor society that
recognizes and advocates for scholarly
attainment and moral purpose in medicine
120 chapters throughout the United States
Dedicated to the belief that in the profession of medicine
we will improve care for all patients by:

recognizing high educational achievement

honoring gifted teaching

encouraging the development of leaders in academia and the
community

supporting the ideals of humanism, and

promoting service to others
How Are Members Chosen?

The top 25 percent of a medical school
class is eligible for nomination to the
society, with up to 16 percent elected
based on leadership, character,
community service, and professionalism.
How Are Members Chosen?

Each chapter may also elect each year up to 3
residents/fellows and 1-2 faculty members who
embody the values of AΩA.

Honorary membership may be awarded to
physicians and scientists who have made
significant contributions to medicine.
