Bluenose Bluenose History Bluenose The original Bluenose was launched as a Grand Banks fishing and racing schooner on 26 March 1921 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Why?? • Bluenose struck a reef of Isle aux Vache, Haiti on 28 January 1946. • For commemorating this great erection. • Leaking and worn out, it was dismantled in 2010, and rebuilt in the same shipyard as its ancestors in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. • It launched in 2013 • To eliminate hoggingin the future and ensure the vessel remains a constant presence on our waters for decades to come. • In 1963, Bluenose II was launched. • In its role as an ambassador, Bluenos e II has been a frequent presence for trade visits and international promotions for Nova Scotia and Canada. • Bluenose came to symbolize Nova Scotia's prominence in the fishing and shipbuilding industries.
