What is CELDT?
• California • English • Language • Development • Test
Why do I have to take the CEDLT?
State and Federal law require schools to assess (test) the English proficiency of students whose primary (first) English.

Students from kindergarten to 12 th grade take the CELDT.
The CELDT has 4 parts: • Listening • Speaking • Reading • Writing

How often do I have to take the CELDT?
• The CELDT is administered (given) once a year until you are reclassified.
How do I get reclassified?
• Overall level of 4 or 5 on the CELDT without a subtest score of 3 or lower • Basic (3) or higher on the CST/ELA test • Grades of C or better in math, English, history, and science
Why am I in ELD?
• ELD (English Language Development) is for students at a level 3 on the CELDT.
• The first month of class will focus on preparing you for the CELDT • After CELDT “boot camp” we will use a program called English 3D.
English 3D
• English 3D is a program that targets vocabulary, writing, speaking, and listening to help students achieve the high expectations of the new Common Core State Standards , and to succeed in college and career .
