Aim: To look at cooperative
learning i.e. group work!
Outcomes:
Identify difference between traditional teacher and
cooperative learning.
Introduce some Kagan structures e.g. rally robin

Situation 1: A teacher tells students,
"Here is a worksheet with twenty problems
on it. Work alone and turn it in when you
are finished."
Situation 2: A teacher tells students,
"Here is a worksheet with twenty problems
on it. Use RallyCoach with your partner
and turn it in when you are both sure all
the answers are correct."
Benefits
• Consistency: Use the same names, so
pupils will know ‘Rally Robin’, ‘Quiz quiz
trade’, ‘think time’.

Inform pupils that the next activity is Rally Robin.
Explain Rally Robin
Give a question with multiple responses, think time.
Then after think time tell them who is going first.
Pupils share answers till time is up.

• Announce a topic and state how long each
pupil will have to ‘share’.
• Provide ‘think time’
• Then who goes first.
• First person shares, other listens and then
responds.
• Switch roles.
