One consequence to Doyles of using financial incentives to motivate the
sales staff is:
Step 1
is that it could lead to the sales staff giving better customer service because
Step 2
they will receive a financial reward depending on the level of service that
they give to the customers within Doyles. This could therefore
Step 3
lead to a reduction in customer complaints which increased by 91.2%
between 2011 and 2012. In turn
Step 4
this could lead to an improvement in Doyles reputation as well as an
increase in the amount of customers prepared to shop at Doyles. This is
crucial to Doyles because
Step 5
they have seen sales decline due to an increase in competition and
therefore any improvement that they can make within the business will help
to halt this decline.
Competitiveness
Examiners Tip
Key theme for Buss 2 is
how a business can be
managed in order to make
it more competitive.
1. Strategies to improve
competitiveness?
2. Make judgments on
whether you feel the
business has improved it’s
competitiveness
3. Factors that could influence
a firm’s competitiveness
Question 1 – Outline how we can JUDGE how competitive SAFC is?
How could you measure competitiveness? What would you look at?
1 League Position
2 Revenue
3 Attendance
Question 2 – Outline 3 different ways in which SAFC could improve
its competitiveness
1 Invest in better players
2
Change the manager
3
Invest in the stadium/ training facilities
Question 3 – Choose ONE of your suggestions. Explain HOW/ WHY
this would improve the competitiveness of SAFC
One way in which SAFC could improve their competitiveness is
to invest in new and better players. Better players could
contribute to better performances on the pitch and an improved
league position therefore improving the teams ability to
compete within the Premier League . In turn, this could lead to
increased attendances and other revenue opportunities further
strengthening their competitive position
