

This is a project that demonstrates competency in
collaboration, knowledge of the curriculum, and
incorporation of the standards: AASL, GPS, &NETS.
This project meets the following standards: ALA 1.1
Efficient and Ethical seeking behavior, 2.1 Knowledge
of Learners and Learning, 4.3 Comprehensive and
Collaborative Strategic Planning and Assessment.

CoE Conceptual Framework skills are illustrated
through being knowledgeable of the curriculum, being
proactive in seeking change and incorporating ALA
standards, being adaptive by planning for a wide

The Newsletter project was a demonstration of
my abilities to incorporate important information
while advocating for the rights of intellectual
freedom, and the power point illustrating the
roles of a media specialist shows the knowledge
and skills that I am capable of accomplishing.

The media log allowed me to keep a running list of
materials to select for the media center that related to
curriculum topics and patron interests. This log will
be useful, especially when categorized by topics.
The Quick Start Guide demonstrates my
competencies in creating a document that allows
anyone to use the OPAC system at my school; it
illustrates my understanding of how to operate the
system.

society. It is a way to show leadership and advocacy
for proper use of new technology being introduced.

patrons of my school.

MEDIA CENTER POLICES AND PROCEDURE
HANDBOOK
The implementation of policies and procedures is
an effective way to help start a media program
because it guides the acceptable uses or all
aspects of the media center; it also allows the
media specialist to work collaboratively with an
advocacy team by following guidelines or
updating guidelines that might be important to
the school or the media environment. The
compilation of this handbook illustrates my
competencies to be an effective leader,
collaborator, teacher, and manager.
