 Grades - 60% tests and projects
- 20% quizzes
- 20% homework/classwork
*Daily attendance is essential to academic success!
Homework
 A student will receive:
0
NO homework
1
Assignment partially complete or 1
day late / Haphazardly done
2
Complete as directed by teacher
Homework Policy
 Homework can have a serious POSITIVE OR
NEGATIVE impact on a students’ academic grade!
 Students are expected to complete all assigned
assignments.
 FMS policy states that when a student is absent, he or
she has three days to make up a missed assignment. If
the student received the assignment prior to the
absence, they are required to submit the assignment
upon return.
Homework Continued
 If a student is having difficulty completing homework
assignments, he or she will be required to stay for 13th
period on a daily basis
 Staying informed is very easy by accessing your child
through parent portal!
 Homework requested for a sick child, is expected to be
picked up and completed.
13th Period
 13th period is a time for students to receive extra help,
enrichment, review and the completion of required
schoolwork.
 This is held Monday-Thursday 2:45 – 3:15. Parents
can pick up their student at 3:15 but must come in to
the school to sign their child out. Bus transportation is
provided at 4:00. Students may also opt to go to
Homework Haven for a quiet place to develop
consistency in completing homework.
Detention
 Detention may be given as a penalty for student
misconduct. Detention is held Tuesday and Thursday
from 3pm. – 5pm.
5-Week Reports
 Each student will have a progress report available at
the 5-week mark of each quarter.
 Reports will be electronic this year.
 A hard copy request must be made through the
Guidance Office.
 Familiarity with the Parent Portal will keep you up to
date.

 Grade 6 utilizes the Treasures Reading Series.
 Treasures is a research based, comprehensive reading
language arts program for grades K-6. The programs
provides an excellent bridge from elementary to middle
school ELA instruction.
