“FUNdamentals” Volleyball Program:

 Mini-Volleyball (Goal = 100,000-200,000+)  CAHPERD endorsement  Can be used as approved curriculum in elementary schools  40,000+ participants in Canada in 2005-2006

“Learning to Train” Volleyball Program:

 Atomic Volleyball (LTAD Goal = 30,000-50,000)  CAHPERD endorsement  Can be used as approved curriculum in elementary schools  10,000+ participants in Canada in 2005-2006

“Training to Train” 13U Nationals pilot starting in 2008:

 Program to provide link between 12U (Atomic) and 14U     Court Sizes:  Mini / Atomic: 6.1m x 6.7m (badminton court) up to 4 on 4   13U: 8m x 8m with 4 on 4 (? - TBD) 14U: 9m x 9m with 6 on 6 Modified rules to encourage participation and fun Different style of Nationals (Festival atmosphere) Provincial Pilots in 2007

Playing Up (Developmental Level vs. Chronological Age):

2007 VC Nationals

  Teams Playing Up Allowed Teams playing in more then one nationals allowed  Must wait until March 1, 2007 to register for Team “playing up”

“Training to Train” Rule Modifications:

VC Nationals: Men 14U and 15U and Women 14U and 15U

   No Libero 12 substitutions (in/out once only) Same score sheet as other age categories  Rationale – helps to prevent early specialization

“Learning to Compete” Annual P/T Competition:

VC NTCC’s (19U/18U for Men, 18U/17U for Women)

     4-day event on the last weekend of July every year 2007 Men = SK (Regina), 2007 Women = ON Second team (18U men and 17U women) 5 Provinces have a second women’s team in 2007 4 Provinces have a second men’s team in 2007  9 teams = 108 athletes and 18-24 coaches

“Training to Compete” Annual P/T Competition:

21U Nationals (Raised from 20U – both beach and indoor)

      Provinces can depart from existing Club system to form teams 4-day event May 10 – 13, 2007 Always at Team Canada Volleyball Centre (Winnipeg) Best 3 of 5 matches (maximum of 2 per day) with 2 officials Women = 8 teams Men = 6 teams

 2009 Canada Games Ages     Indoor Women = 20U (1989 or earlier in 2009) Indoor Men = 21U (1988 or earlier in 2009) Beach Women = 21U (1988 or earlier in 2009) Beach Men = 22U (1987 or earlier in 2009)  Previous Canada Games Ages   Indoor Men and Women = 19U Beach Men and Women = 21U

    21U High Performance Camp (May 13-20 in Winnipeg) Training led by National Team Coaches & PET 130 athletes and 25 coaches from 10 provinces Athletes selected by NT (pre-selected) and by provinces  Good stakeholder interaction  Improve Knowledge   Both players and coaches 2008 consider a coaches clinic  Provide training outside of the CIS/CCAA season  Typical CIS/CCAA = 30-50 matches in 6 months then 6 months off

 Full-Time National Team Training Centres:    2006-2007: 7 male players, 4 female players Long Term: 30-40 Athletes in up to 3 full time centres Development of next generation of National Team coaches  Placement of L2W athletes in good club situations  Better coaches, facilities and leagues
