Our School
Plaza Vista School:
• Built in 1999, this is our 15th year!
• K-8 Year Round calendar school
• In 2010 we became a “California
Distinguished School”
• Over 960 students attend Plaza Vista School

Our first priority at Plaza Vista School is to provide
a safe learning environment for ALL students!
Please read the Plaza Vista K-5 Code of Conduct
which is on the Plaza Vista website.
You and your child will be asked to verify that you
have read the rules and discussed the importance
of following them with your child. Please comply
with all forms in the “First Day Packet” online.
Adults on Campus



Parents are welcome at Plaza Vista School!
For the protection of the children, ALL adults
(volunteers or visitors) on campus must sign in at
the school office, unless they are dropping off or
picking up students.
For School Safety: ALL adults must get a visitor or
volunteer badge from the office and wear it while
at school. Any parent without a name badge will
be asked to return to the office to sign in.
School Office Hours
The school office staff works hard to provide the
best quality services to children, staff and
parents.
 The office is open from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Monday through Friday.
 Please sign in with the office and pick up a
visitor or volunteer badge before visiting your
child’s classroom.

user to gain access to Parent Portal!
 All of the information you require is on our
website – make sure you check it often! We
are a GREEN school.

Attendance

Absences: If your child will NOT be at school for any
reason, please call the attendance line at 949-936-6951
before 9:00am to report your student’s absence.

Late Arrivals: When your child is LATE, please take
him/her directly to the office and sign in. They will be
marked Tardy and given a Tardy slip to take to class.

Student Release: Students will ONLY be released to
people designated on the emergency card. Siblings
picking up students must be at least 18 years old.

Kinder Meet and Greet
In June, we will be meeting incoming Kindergarten
students. You will receive a notification about
scheduling your appointment in the coming months.
Our Goals: The students will meet the
teachers and teachers will gain important
information that allow us to create balanced
classes and effective learning environments.
 Your child’s class placement will be online 1-2
days before the start of school. (Plaza Vista
website)

Kindergarten Daily Schedule
A.M.
 P.M.

Kindergarten minimum day:
8:00-11:20 All students
 Minimum days will be on the school
calendar and will be held only for class
music programs and field trips.


First Kinder Day of School
First day of school will be a “Normal” kindergarten schedule
 All A.M. & P.M. parents/students will meet in the
kindergarten yard area at 8:00 AM or 11:20 AM
 Follow teacher to your child’s class
 Please have students wear closed-toed shoes (no sandals or
gators)
 Bring a LARGE full-sized backpack and lunch box with
student’s name clearly written on the outside
 Bring a healthy snack
 Please label all clothing (sweaters & jackets)

Back to School Night &
Fall Conferences


During the first month of school, we schedule a BACKTO-SCHOOL NIGHT for Kindergarten. We present the
curriculum, policies and procedures for the year.
(This is a night for parents only. )
Approximately one month after school begins, there will
be Fall Conferences. Parents are invited to meet with
their child’s teacher to discuss academic and behavior
goals. They will also share a progress update.

*Our Volunteer Meeting will be held during the
first 2 weeks of School.

ACE After School Program
Child Development Center (CDC)
The CDC childcare program at Plaza Vista School provides
affordable, quality childcare and day camps for
elementary school-age children of working parents.
Professional staff supervise children in a caring,
nurturing environment.

The program operates Monday-Friday, before and
