Neutrino beam from J-PARC lab. in Tokai sent to
the largest underground detector in the world:
Super-Kamiokande. At J-PARC a near detector
ND280 has just been commissioned and in Nov
2009 recorded first neutrino events.

Contribution of Polish groups
Construction of the near detector ND280 in J-PARC (2008-2009).
Polish groups participated in production and installation of SMRD
couters in the slits of a large magnet
440 modules of 4 or 5 counters were
installed in summer of 2009 were
installed.
From PL 13 people
worked in Japan
during the
installation and
testing.
The first data are
currently analyzed.
The SMRD counters provide cosmic ray triggers and allow more precise
reconstruction of the neutrino beam.
