Bacterial Growth

McConkey’s, Mannitol Salt
& Blood Agar
Last week you obtained samples of bacteria from the environment and
from your body. You plated those samples on TSY and on
specialized selective & differential media.
McConkey’s = lighter, purplish-pink
Mannitol Salt = orangish-pink
Blood Agar = very dark red

from throat swab plate (Blood agar).

environmental samples, for each quadrant 1 – 4
(TSY and MacConkey’s).
a. Are MacConkey colonies pink or colorless?
