
Start planning now:
Do
research on bus routes, take a trial run before classes
Check out Zimride and carpool at least once
Have faculty phone number/email entered in your phone

Get Motor Assistance Plan (i.e. AAA).
Ensuring Success for Commuters

Attend CAP, CAB, other campus events;
Interact with faculty;
 Meet other students in your classes;
 Give yourself a break between classes;

Be focused on Time Management;
 Check your ISpartan Email or forward it to your
personal; Check Bb = Blackboard;
 Utilize campus resources: Library,
Student Success Center, Writing Center - you
paid for it!

Beware of Transfer Shock






Your GPA does NOT transfer.
This is not like your previous college or university – do
not assume UNCG does things the same way.
Students who use the Student Success Center, Writing
Center, and Speaking Center are more likely to do better
in classes and have higher GPAs.
Adult students – don’t “parent” your traditional
aged peers.
If you are a transfer student coming into a program in
Junior year – ask about department/faculty protocols.
Transfers – hold on to your Syllabi.
