WHAT IS TRIAD?
• TRIAD began as a community policing initiative between seniors and law enforcement to increase safety through education and community programs • TRIAD is now a cooperative partnership between seniors, law enforcement, public safety, and human service agencies to improve delivery of services to senior citizens.

Reduce fear and increase peace of mind for seniors by contact with agency personnel

Discuss the safety related needs and concerns of seniors, identify problem areas and implement community wide solutions 6

Senior Reassurance Program
Fisherman’s Cove & Bourne Oaks will help you implement an Are You Okay / Neighbor to Neighbor program.
Some reassurance programs have seniors call the police department each morning. In Falmouth & Bourne, neighbors check each other everyday and call police if there is an emergency.

The following are approved designations for inclusion in the 9-1-1 Database:
Any changes should be communicated to your 9-1-1 Municipal Coordinator promptly.
“LSS” Life Support System:
someone at the address is linked to equipment required to sustain their life.
“M I” Mobility Impaired:
someone at the address is bedridden, uses a wheelchair or has another mobility impairment.
“B” Blind:
someone at the address is legally blind.
“D H H” Deaf and Hard of Hearing:
someone at the address is deaf or hard of hearing.
“T T Y” Teletypewriter:
communication via the telephone with someone at that address may be by TTY.
“S I” Speech Impaired:
someone at the address is speech impaired.
“CI” Cognitive Impairment:
someone at the address has some degree of cognitive disability, such as a developmental disability, Alzheimer’s disease or other form of dementia.

Message from Deputy Chief Todino
In the aftermath of September 11, 2001, the need for strengthening and secur ing our community has become more impor tant than ever. As a consequence of that ter rible attack the Mashpee Police Department is faced with a new challenge: not only de tecting and preventing crime but also in help ing local residents become a critical element in the detection, prevention, and disruption of terrorism.

For many years, the law enforce ment community attempted to battle crime without citizen involvement. Research proves that this one-pronged approach is only marginally effective in reducing crimi nal activity. The Mashpee Police Depart ment and its hard working and dedicated TRIAD members have joined forces to pro vide the citizens of Mashpee with the Neighborhood Watch Program. This com munity outreach program will reduce crime in the neighborhoods, educate the public in crime prevention techniques and help the police to detect potential terrorist related sus picious activity. This new focus on prevention of terrorism, part of a national challenge issued by President Bush and Attorney General John D. Ashcroft, will enhance local home land security efforts. Attorney General Ashcroft announced a plan to double the number of groups participating in the Neighborhood Watch Program and to incor porate terrorism prevention and education into its existing crime prevention mission. Here at the Mashpee Police Depart ment, we firmly believe that our most valu able resource is informed citizens who are committed to keeping their neighborhoods and community safe and secure. Through the dedicated efforts of our TRIAD members we can help the President achieve his goal and keep our town safe and secure.
