Background
◦ Incorporated in 1994 later became a non-profit IRS
501(c)(6) business association.
◦ Grew out of the ROCKS and today our membership
consist of retired and former military officers, warrant and
noncommissioned officers, and non-military members
who are business owners and managers of successful
and diverse businesses.
◦ Collectively RMOA member companies have over 4,000
employees and an annual gross receipts in excess of $1
billion.

Background (cont’d)
◦ RMOA corporate members include solutions and services,
Information technologies, financial services, construction,
manufacturing, logistic services, facilities management,
healthcare, marketing, publishing and entertainment
management.
◦ RMOA’s primary mission is to contribute to the economic
success of each member through strategic partnering,
teaming, mentoring, and providing in-depth technical
assistance and experience.
◦ RMOA’s primary organizational concern is the creation of
individual, corporate, and community wealth through the
establishment of its existing rules and guidelines regarding
membership.

Organizational Structure
◦ RMOA has a mixed of small, medium and large size
businesses including companies that are in the SBA 8(a)
program, HUBZone, Service Disabled Veteran Owned,
(SDVOSB), Women Owned Small Business (WOSB),
Veteran Owned Business (VOB) and other companies.
◦ RMOA members are uniquely qualified to support and
contract with government agencies and provide
subcontracting opportunities to repair the Nation’s critical
infrastructure needs and facilities.

Program Goals and Objectives
◦ The association’s policies are established by the RMOA
Officers and Committee Chairs (our Board of Directors)
and then presented to RMOA members for final approval.
◦ The association policy is not to discriminate in its
membership or activities because of race, color, gender,
age, national origin, religion or disability.

◦ Key programs for 2014 include: the RMOA Speakers
Luncheon Series, in which LTG Bob Ferrell has been
invited and accepted to speak on 24 July; 3nd Annual Ted
Adams Golf Tournament; RMOA Family & Guest Picnic;
and the Annual RMOA Awards Ceremony and Gala.
◦ A key RMOA initiated program called the “RMOA Institute
for Small Business” (RBI) will be briefed by COL James
George USA (Ret).

Membership in RMOA
◦ RMOA has four classes of membership.
 Charter Members (Retired or Former Military Officers who were
members as of December 31, 1993 are listed as Charter members
on all RMOA documents and rosters)
 Regular Members (Retired officers and former U.S. military
personnel who serves as a President, Owner, or Senior Executive
in a business organization will be listed as regular members.
 Associate Members (A non-military veteran who is a President,
Owner or Senior Executive of a business organization.)
 Emeritus Members (A former RMOA member who is retired from
business and voted by a majority of the Board of Directors to
receive emeritus status.

General Information
◦ Monthly membership meetings are held on the first
Saturday of each month (except July and August).
◦ Special meetings are called by the President when
necessary.
◦ Meeting Host(s) are members who determine where the
monthly meeting is to be held and the refreshment to be
served at the meeting.
