Silverman Institute Symposium Posters Project
The Problem
Approximately 100 posters are selected for presentation at our annual Silverman Symposium.
Following the Symposium, these posters are archived electronically as PDFs. While available through
BIDMC’s public web page, currently, they are not easily found or searchable by the public or BIDMC
staff.
Aim/Goal
The aim of the Silverman Institute Symposium Posters Project was to produce a searchable, openlyaccessible repository of all of the archived posters. The ultimate goal was to foster knowledge
sharing both within the BID organizations and with the global healthcare community.
The Results/Progress to Date:
Silverman Symposium Posters Online
The database (repository) has been built, using software of, and hosted
by, Omeka.net. 2013 and 2014 Symposium posters have been loaded and tagged. 2015
posters will be added in the coming months. The
back file years (2009-2012 are being added piecemeal. The database has been titled
Silverman Symposium Posters Online and is available at: http://bidmc.omeka.net

Lessons Learned
 Tagging the posters is a very subjective task. In the future, we will
explore ways to involve the authors in assigning tags themselves.
Next Steps
 The database will be financed and maintained by Knowledge Services.
 Once each year’s posters have been archived, they will be added to the
database and tagged. .
