members of the Federation of Nikkei-jin
Kai Philippines
 Assist Filipino-Japanese descendants
in documentary requirements in
securing long-term resident visas for
Japan
 Has assisted more than 2,000
descendants

What is Nikkei-jin?
 Nikkei-
term for Japanese emigrants
from Japan and their descendants to
other parts of the world.
 First recorded emigration was during
the 12th century to the Philippines
 Mass emigration started during the
Meiji Era, to North America and later to
Latin America
 Estimated 2.5M nikkeis living in
adopted countries
 “Nikkei-jin” is the Japanese term for
Japanese Emigrants and their

descendants

 Offsprings from the union between
Japanese father and Filipino mother
 2nd generation and their descendants
 Majority of these 2nd generation were
born before 1945
 Majority of nikkei-jins now belong to
the 3rd and 4th generations
