What is ERASMUS?
The most popular exchange programme in
Europe, which provides the opportunity to study
abroad for one or two terms and to do placement
in a company. During Erasmus period students
are provided with Erasmus grant, which partially
covers the living, transportation and other costs.
RTU is a member of the project since 1998!

What is ERASMUS+?
ERASMUS+ is the new period of the well known
ERASMUS mobility programme, which will
commence in the academic year 2014/2015 in
September 2014.
Erasmus+ programme will provide students with
two mobility opportunities:
- Erasmus exchange studies
- Erasmus placements

Erasmus+ Studies
Erasmus studies allow you to do a part of your
studies at one of the RTU partner Universities.
Semester spent abroad may not be used to
obtain a degree from host university!
Duration: one or two terms (max.12 months)
Erasmus+ Placement
Erasmus placement mobility allows you to do a
practical placement (internship) at the company
within the European Union and gain the credits for
your RTU study programme (when internship is
compulsory part of your study programme)
• Duration: 2-12 month
Important!!!
Students can participate in both mobilities, but
the summary duration can not exceed 12 months!
Erasmus Studies
Step by Step
1. Obtain Information about Erasmus
2. Submit Application for Erasmus+ Grant to
International Relations Office (Room 302)
3. Nomination procedure: Application examination,
interviews
If you are nominated:
1. Prepare Application to your chosen host University
2. Choose study courses at host University
accordingly to your RTU study programme
3. Submit it to the International Relations Office
Requirements to Apply for
Erasmus Grant
• full-time degree student of RTU
• must be in the 4th semester if Bachelor or in 2nd
semester if Master student at the moment of
application for Erasmus grant
• Good knowledge of English or have to speak
fluently in the language the course offered at host
university.
• No academic debts!!!
• Average grade 6.00!
Host University
•you may choose your host University from the list at
http://www.rtu.lv/en/content/view/3763/1983/lang,en/);
•Look through the host universities’ offer of classes,
compare them with the study subject/program at RTU.
• if any questions regarding the choise of courses you
may seek help by contacting host universities Erasmus
coordinator/ International office/ Incoming student
officer!

International Relations office);
• CV;
• Transcripts of record in English (ask the FSD)
