Business Case for TECHtionaryTM Executive Summary TECHtionary is the World’s First and Largest animated largest “see, not just read how it works” technology intelligence source of more than 2,700+ terms and in-depth tutorials on the internet, telecommunications, wireless, computing, power, data communications and IT-information technology. TECHtionary also provides tutorial and exam preparation for the CCNA-Cisco Certified Network Associate, CCD-Design Associate, CCNP-Network Professional, CWNA-Wireless Network Administrator and other certifications. TECHtionary is proposed for use by channel partners, customers, employees and other stakeholders such as the press, industry analysts, and regulatory/legislative bodies (and others as determined jointly) for a fee to be determined including but not limited to hosting, customer assistance, change requests and modifications as well as advertising placement on key industry web sites. TECHtionary Corporation can provide a private label versions of TECHtionary such as Ciscopedia, Qwestionary, Sprintionary, Nortelemation as well CD-ROMs and/or certified onsite classroom. The ROI-Return On Investment exceeds 100% of the fee paid based on increased revenue from channel partner and staff sales, reduced decision-delay time, reduced waste/confusion and enhanced customer support. Additional benefits are also anticipated from improved staff and channel partner communication, accelerated training/learning, improved technical support staff problem-solving capabilities and improved cross-functional staff communication. See Exhibit A for a summary of benefits. TECHtionary is a proven and documented tool to enhance ROI-Return On Investment by: Increasing Revenue 1 – Reduce the sales cycle considerably – “key element in the decision-making process considerably reducing the sales cycle” 2 – Increase the uptake (amount of sales) – “call back ready to buy as they understand what they are looking for” 3 – Make better more informed decisions – “from making costly and time consuming mistakes” 4 – Reduce the up cycle (speed) learning time for sales staff – “saves the learner time and money” 5 – Reduce tech/customer costs – “saving us money by providing what we need to know immediately” Decreasing Expenses 1 - Reduce installation time – “TECHtionary showed me how to install the device faster” 2 – Reduce customer support problem-solving time – “we could all see it together” 3 – Reduce wasted “truck rolls” 4 – Improve customer satisfaction – “I understand what I bought” Effective 11-1-05 © TECHtionary Corporation - www.techtionary.com Page 1 Background Customers are faced with an array of increasingly complex technologies such as IP-VPNs-Internet Protocol Virtual Private Networks, MPLS-Multi-Protocol Label Switching, WiFi, WiMAX, VoIP-Voice Over Internet Protocol, IP-CENTREX, PIM-Protocol Independent Multicasting (video streaming), to name a few. In addition, security threats and the need to understand firewalls, IP-Sec-Security, and NIDsNetwork Intrusion Detection add to the complexity of any network. Federally-mandated content blocking for schools are also becoming common place in business. Channel partners are faced with the immediate and critical need to understand not just data but complex data technologies such as VPNs with video streaming for sales training to assist customers in designing cost-effective and scalable systems. New employees, others changing positions and executives need ways to understand all the technologies, acronyms and concepts not to only communicate more effectively with one another but faster. TECHtionary “bridges the gap” between technical and business decision-makers. Legislators, regulatory agencies, press, industry and Wall Street analysts expect more and require more in-depth explanations of technology in order to make informed decisions about telecommunications and IT products/services. That is, business strategy is being directed by the financial sector with little or no working knowledge of the products/services involved. Analysis and Discussion In discussions with customers, they want to understand “how the technology works” before they will buy the product. They also expressed the need for tools to help them help others in their organization understand the technology. For example, school district IT-Information Technology managers want information to help the principals and teachers understand their role in new technology as well as better ways to explain to School Board members why the technology is needed. Mortgage company managers want ways to more effectively compete by using internet services which link them with Realtors and buyers. The corporate office of a express temporary service uses an IP-VPN during the day for payroll check processing and added video streaming at night for internally-produced streaming video for franchise-owned sales training classes. Channel partners are faced with increased competition from other service providers and often lack the resources to train themselves and their staff. Channel partners have expressed strong desire for more flexible training tools that can be used by themselves, staff, consultants, customers and most importantly, the customer’s decision-maker. That is, the contact person is, in an increasing number of cases, not the final decision-maker. Customers seek assistance from consultants, financial audit committees, industry resources and external training (seminars, university classes) to make informed decisions. These managers then present recommendations to School Boards, CEO/CFO executives, branch managers and others. The real decision-makers do not even know what they need to know to make effective decisions for their organizations. According to one customer, “My job often requires me to make decisions in areas where I have no expertise. I always turn to TECHtionary for a better understanding of the technology issues we face.” What follows is supporting comments, remarks, magazine reviews and examples of how TECHtionary is helping an increasing number of organizations improve their ROI-return on investment in the technology they are about to acquire or have installed. After building the largest animated library on technology, people are realizing that not just that ‘knowledge is power’ but ‘understanding technology easily and rapidly is the real power,” noted Thomas B. Cross – CEO of TECHtionary. “Viewers have commented that if a picture is worth a 1,000 words, adding animation multiplies that many times over. We also add new and emerging technologies everyday, something you can’t do in print,” Cross added. Effective 11-1-05 © TECHtionary Corporation - www.techtionary.com Here are some recent comments regarding TECHtionary “Tom Cross does some excellent work at TECHtionary. To further the plug, advertising on his site or licensing his library are two ways to support his excellent efforts to educate many of us on technology via animation and simple to understand definitions.” TMC President & Publisher Rich Tehrani “Tom and his TECHtionary.com team continue to impress us with both the quality and volume of their tutorials. It’s incredible that they’ve reached the milestone of 2500 tutorials in such a short time. As we’ve shared the TECHtionary tutorials with our users, we’ve gotten consistently positive feedback about the quality and depth of the material.” Jeff Ramminger – Executive Vice President – KnowledgeStorm.com - the Internet's most highly trafficked business technology search site “As a master agent, my business has evolved from long distance to now VoIP, SPAM, storage, web conferencing and other emerging technologies. Our product line continues to expand more rapidly than ever. TECHtionary.com continues to add new insights and implications for technology to keep my staff, 500 agents and thousands of customers educated and informed on technology. TECHtionary.com is the quintessential source on technology.” Geoffrey Shepstone – President - Telecom Brokerage, Inc. "TECHtionary.com's tutorials provide concise definitions, illustrated by excellent graphics for a huge variety of terms of art from the converged worlds of virtually all communications mediums. It is a basic and essential learning tool both for the newly initiated and long-time professionals working or planning to work in the industry." Barry L. Hjort - Executive Vice President – Colorado Telecommunications Association "TECHtionary.com is the 21st Century version of an Oxford or Webster's for technical terms. TECHtionary.com is the definitive learning tool for technical terms whether one is a layperson trying to understand a complex concept or a techie with a question. TECHtionary’s visual explanation animated in Flash is light-years beyond just reading a bunch of static words and trying to visualize what a text definition is telling you." Hal Josephson – CEO - MediaSense “As technology continues to rapidly change, it is refreshing to see TECHtionary.com add content to keep up with the fast pace. TECHtionary.com is a powerful tool in keeping up to date on current technology terms.” Matt Jolly - Network Engineer Oxford Networks “We have found that Techtionary.com is a great compliment to our on-line tutorials for salespeople. It’s great content and it stays current. Our clients love it!” Orrin Broberg – CEO – Netintent.com Effective 11-1-05 © TECHtionary Corporation - www.techtionary.com Page 4 Here are some recent comments regarding TECHtionary "Congratulations on reaching a new pinnacle in educational excellence. In my opinion, TECHtionary.com is the most comprehensive online visual reference-learning system available. TECHtionary.com is the greatest tool I have ever encountered to help us know more about what we need to know more about . I am increasingly involved as an expert witness. I have used TECHtionary.com to educate my clients who do not have any idea what the technology is all about such as VoIP, WiFi and other emerging technologies such as WiMax. In a recent case about a cable cut of an optical fiber, no one really understood what the issues were all about. I recently used TECHtionary.com to bring the law suit to closure faster saving my client thousands of dollars in attorney’s fees and lengthy litigation. In addition, unlike books and even most webbased systems, there is something new on TECHtionary.com nearly everyday and we all need to learn something new everyday.” Paul C. Daubitz President - ATI-Telemanagement – (past President of the Society of Telecommunications Consultants) www.ati-telemgt.com “There are three primary benefits to TECHtionary: 1 - In regard to customer acquisition, complex concepts like Simplified Relocation, Outlook Integration, SIP, VoIP and many others, are made simple and easy to understand when TECHtionary VoIP Technology Sales Animations are utilized. These animations reduce the number of days in the evaluation process and dramatically reduce the effort needed to produce sales. In addition, we have found that happy customers are more likely to refer us to other businesses and provide sales for us. In addition, as a Master Channel Partner, TECHtionary User guide and installation animations provide the means to train agents rapidly and easily. 2 - In regard to the enormous costs associated with customer support, it’s not the 1st call or even the 2nd call that causes support costs to skyrocket. It is the continuous changes in customer staff turnover, new-hires and increasingly non-English speaking employees that break-the-bank. Supporting all these types of customers rapidly evaporates profit. The TECHtionary Phoneset installation animations you have done on Cisco, ShoreTel, NEC, Polycomm and others save enormous amounts of time because support calls don’t come in one-at-a-time. We get large bursts of support calls forcing too many callers to end up in the queue with long wait times or leaving voice mail. The TECHtionary Phoneset animations provide a “pictionary” approach to many common support questions for customers who speak any language. This reduces the number and length of calls saving us thousands and gives us the ability to scale our business cost-effectively while maintaining even increasing customer satisfaction. 3 – In regard to customer satisfaction, customers are looking for a vendor who is still responsive after the sale. New features can be added or changed and as new services emerge TECHtionary animations can be easily updated to meet new challenges. Thank you for involving us in your efforts and please share this with anyone you’d like.” Mark Sharp – CEO – Vimenture - A Master Agency for ICG, NGT, Qwest and others Effective 11-1-05 © TECHtionary Corporation - www.techtionary.com Page 4 Channel Partner Comments According to Mr. Doug Hanson - CEO of Evolve, "Customers often call with lots of detailed questions. I send them to TECHtionary which explains it faster than I ever could. They call back ready to buy as they understand what they are looking for. I also need more and more technical information to help my customers understand increasingly complex carrier/manufacturer products and services. TECHtionary does that and a lot more." TECHtionary has been critical to helping our agents educate themselves, their customers, and ultimately decision-makers. I urge you to support efforts to expand TECHtionary as this industry is constantly changing, we need this more than ever. Herb Levitin, President CCNA POWERCOM - Master Agent "TECHtionary helps our customers to be more in touch with what we have to offer to them. We have found TECHtionary to be key element in the decision-making process considerably reducing the sales cycle. I have received e-mail from folks who have visited our site saying that they find TECHtionary to be an incredibly useful tool. In addition, several of our employees at Oxford Networks use TECHtionary to learn about SONET and other fiber optic related technologies. TECHtionary is helping to keep our technical personnel ahead of the power curve and it is saving us money by providing what we need to know immediately saving truck rolls. I recommend it as a necessary link for any networking-telecom-IT website." Matt Jolly - Revolution Networks – Networking the Northeast - www.revnets.net "TECHtionary.com is as often as good as any sales person. Sometimes it's better because its also available to customers 7x24 and, most importantly, to the real decision-makers in the organization. TECHtionary also opens up all kinds of new concepts and allows viewers to explore complex issues over and over again until they get it. TECHtionary is a great tool for TP Partners for your web sites. TECHtionary really gives customers a reason to come to your web site." Justin Chris-Tensen VP TelePacific “As Senior Director for Local Services dealing with various independent representatives from around the US and now many European countries, I just wanted to give you an update on my recent experiences with the TECHtionary product and the success I've experienced with its use. As a comprehensive tool, TECHtionary has demonstrated the ability to eliminate confusion, reduce errors, improve self-confidence, and, most of all, avoid the need for representatives to delay their sales activity while awaiting explanations from the home office. Efficiency is a major asset to possess and I have found TECHtionary a resounding success in this application. Feel free to use my name should others question the capability of this marvelous tool.” Peter Meyer Senior Director - Local Services VarTec/EXCEL Telecom “I wanted to let you know that Techtionary is the BEST informational tool I have ever seen. The animations are superior to the Telecom Dictionary, and gives a complete understanding of how technology works. You just cant get that kind of understanding and visualization from a book. We have some agents that just cant explain how something works and rather than saying, let me read you something, they say CHECK out this URL. The customer knows that they are dealing with a high tech and very informed rep. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Have a great day!” Kevin Flake Wholesale Telecom “I understand you’re considering using TECHtionary as a value add to help Partners. I would like to put my full recommendation behind using TECHtionary. I feel it is a substantive value add that would help differentiate Qwest as well as exemplify your desire to help Partners. Prior to learning about you considering TECHtionary, I planned to incorporate TECHtionary in the TBI web site. If adopted I look forward to participating with whatever part of TECHtionary's offerings were made available to Partners though you.” Geoffrey Shepstone President Telecom Brokerage, Inc. – Qwest Master Agent Effective 11-1-05 © TECHtionary Corporation - www.techtionary.com Page 4 Industry Expert Comments "In my role as Director of Public Affairs for Colorado, my main responsibility is to advocate Qwest's policy positions with the goal of gaining support from community, business and political leaders. These stakeholders play an integral role in shaping the development of the telecommunications infrastructure and service availability. TECHtionary's text and graphics are a valuable resource to help stakeholders understand the complexities of telecommunications so that they can make informed decisions regarding the industry. TECHtionary is easily accessible and provides a simple understanding of telecommunications terms.“ Pete Kirchhof – Qwest Mark Allen, President and Chief Executive Officer Corporate University eXchange noted " TECHtionary is a excellent tool for educating the customer directly.“ Corporate University eXchange is the leading industry organization for corporate universities. I have been using TECHtionary.com for nearly two years. I have found it as a great tool to help me and my sales staff "visualize" the technologies we sell. This would be a great tool for all our people especially the back office staff who have to deal with questions on services with little training on our complex services. This is also especially true of channel partners who need all the help they can get. I hope you will utilize this service soon. – Sales Manager Allegiance Telecommunications "TECHtionary is the most comprehensive visual reference-learning system available. I have been a professional in the telecommunications and information technology industry for over thirty years. During my career I have seen technologies come and go and even more vendors come and go. It is increasingly clear that we constantly need to know more about our industry and the issues surrounding it. TECHtionary is the greatest tool I have ever encountered to help us know more about what we need to know more about. I am increasingly involved as an expert witness. I have used TECHtionary to educate my clients who do not have any idea what the technology is all about. In a recent case about a cable cut of an optical fiber, no one really understood what the issues were all about. I recently used TECHtionary to bring the law suit to closure faster saving my client thousands of dollars in attorney’s fees and lengthy litigation. In addition, unlike books and even most web-based systems, there is something new on TECHtionary nearly everyday and we all need to learn something new everyday. Thanks again for such a great tool.” Paul C. Daubitz President - ATI-Telemanagement – (past President of the Society of Telecommunications Consultants) www.ati-telemgt.com “I am sure I have told you how wonderful I think the animated dictionary is! I looked at it again today, and you are absolutely right, animation, visuals, and pictures speak a thousand words. My colleagues have seen it too, and are very impressed by TECHtionary.” Lorna Perez Alcatel. “I just received the link to your TECHtionary site and I must say that it is the best Tech dictionary that I have seen on the web so far.” Saverio DiGravina Level (3) Communications Effective 11-1-05 © TECHtionary Corporation - www.techtionary.com Page 5 Industry Expert Comments "For simple, concise, and straight-forward answers to complex questions, TECHtionary is unrivaled." J. Stephen Pollock, Siemens Venture Capital “It is a major challenge to stay on top of emerging technologies. TECHtionary is an innovated tool that makes this process easy and interesting for clients, customers, and decision makers. TECHtionary can present obscure and complex technologies and products quickly and effectively in an attractive format. I love just browsing TECHtionary for the interesting presentations of technical concepts. TECHtionary’s approach advances the Internet culture to another level and deserves to be considered as a serious marketing and educational tool. Bravo!” Alan Harris - Video Producer “TECHtionary is a fantastic tool for anyone needing to understand the confusing world of IT. Whether you are a beginner or an expert it offers what you need.” Beth Sunny – Sharper Training “An essential tool for both tech novices as well as trained engineers, TECHtionary bridges a divide that makes complex subjects simple and understandable.” Walter Knapp – Novell "Tom Cross's TECHtionary is a fresh and spontaneous as the latest Catch of the Day. Despite being in the industry for over 25 years Tom analysis is as current as anyone's in the field. He catches each wave of the telecom and IT world as it is just starting to develop.“ Dr. Joseph Pelton - Director of the Space and Advanced Communications Research Institute – George Washington University “TECHtionary is showing a new way of learning--not simply using slick graphics gratuitously, it uses animations to illustrate and teach what mere words and static pictures cannot convey as easily. As founder of Wikipedia.org and former editor-in-chief of Nupedia.com, I'm very impressed with what TECHtionary has done.” Larry Sanger “This is actually pretty slick. I've looked at the tutorials. They're easy to understand and the graphics are awesome.” Michael J. Bybee - Director of Training - Spohn & Associates, Inc. "In managing a sales force, competitive intelligence is critical to successfully positioning our products/services. However, competitive information without a thorough understanding of the underlying technology is worthless. In the fast paced world of data communications, understanding new technologies such as MPLS, PWE3, WiFi and PPVPNs understanding is critical. Understanding means being able to explain "how it works" to my sales team in a way that they can communicate it to their customers. Increasingly our customers includes non-technical C-chief level decision-makers who need "visual“ explanations. TECHtionary is the best resource to give my staff an understanding of the technologies and a true competitive edge.“ Robert Speers, Data Sales Manager, AT&T-Atlanta Effective 11-1-05 © TECHtionary Corporation - www.techtionary.com Page 6 End User Comments According to Cindy Johnson, Director of Technology for Lee County Schools in Sanford, North Carolina, “The TECHtionary website immediately appealed to me because I often lack the knowledge I need to make wise decisions for the district. Our technicians have also had limited access to training. They often have learned while on the job. The website provides immediate, easy access to information they may not have otherwise. When I have requested additional information to be placed on the site I received prompt, positive feedback. The animation and easily understood text make the site valuable for learners at all levels. The site is easy to maneuver. A great deal of time is not invested in learning how to use the site. Novice Internet users are not frustrated with how to get information and advanced users still find something to learn. I am writing to support the TECHtionary.com web site. TECHtionary has been an invaluable tool to our school system. Although my title is Director of Technology, I am an educator with the training that is typical for teachers and administrators. “ She added, “My job often requires me to make decisions in areas where I have no expertise. I always turn to TECHtionary for a better understanding of the technology issues we face. This practice has kept our small school system from making costly and time consuming mistakes. The most recent example of this occurred during the spring. We are replacing telephone systems in four of our schools. It is sad to note that today's high schools and middle schools need a greater level of security than schools in the past. After a careful examination of TECHtionary I changed my recommendation for these sites. TECHtionary not only provided me with information to make a wise decision, it gave me a visual tool to help me convey our needs to those in authority over me. TECHtionary staff also added terms to the web site on the rare occasions that I've not been able to find exactly what I need. I've passed up no opportunity to share TECHtionary with my peers across the state. Technology has never been adequately funded in North Carolina schools. Other Directors of Technology have welcomed this site.” “Yes I teach Cisco 1-6 right now. I help out a little with the A+ students when their teacher isn't there, but I'm full time with the IT division. That's why I'm glad to see this sight so I can give this to my students so when they ask about something instead of me always telling them I can tell them to look it up. Since in the real world I won't be there all the time to bail them out. So thanks again.” Dan!! “Your web site is stunning! I am a student at UWF and am enrolled in the IIT program. I found your site during a search for networks. It is the best site I've ever seen! The way you are using the image maps negates the need for other menus and is a extremely attractive and engaging to the users! Thanks so much for letting us see and use this. I know you will get all the business you can handle with the interest you will create with this site. I've never seen anything so clever and intuitive on the web, ever! Macromedia would embrace you for your genius in the way you have made a truly effective and enriching presentation of networking terms.” Truly Andrew Stasiowski Student, UWF Effective 11-1-05 © TECHtionary Corporation - www.techtionary.com Page 7 End User Comments - more "Techtionary is an incredible product that will assist corporate technical trainers as well as secondary/postsecondary teachers get across difficult concepts to their students. It is an innovative way to teach across the curriculum while continuing to maintain student interest. I personally would recommend this product to any company or individual looking to understand technical concepts not completely explained in the textbooks. For those teaching certification and those pursuing certification, TECHtionary is not a study guide but explains thousands of concepts found in nearly every study guide. There are too many concepts that are barely comprehensive in tens of text pages but TECHtionary explains via animation in seconds saving the student and teacher hours. TECHtionary is absolutely critical for Cisco, Microsoft, Comptia-Network+, A+ or vendor-specific courses. Take a look around...I know that you will see and react the same way I did! It's amazing!“ Sabrina Koncaba - CFE, MCSA, MCSE, MCT, Network+, A+ Career and Technology Education “As the Chief Financial Officer of Ancon Marine I am ultimately responsible for all decisions relative to our investment in information technology. It is no longer a simple task of calling your telephone company representative or the IBM representative and placing an order. As the CFO of a multidivisional company which provides transportation services, environmental services and marine salvage I need to understand IT services that can make a difference in the operations of our company. I need information that informs but does not overwhelm. Information that guides but not drives you away. TECHtionary has given me insights and actionable information that has helped me get the technology we need sooner but saved me a considerable amount in understanding what we didn't need. TECHtionary is a valuable tool, which provides much needed information in a readily understandable format.” George W. Buys “You are to be REVERED, not merely congratulated, for the Techtionary, which I found looking through Business Communication Review's website. It is truly mind-bending. I looked at most of the letters entries and many of the entries themselves. I've now bookmarked the site in all my computers and it is truly a significant achievement.” Roger Kirkman Winston-Salem State University Office of Media Relations “I recently came across TECHtionary and found it to be a useful resource for our students which fits in well with some learning resources for computer networks that we are currently developing.” Anthony Lewis Course Director, BSc (Hons) Computer Science & Information Management Scheme Research Leader ISIS Learning Group University of Central England in Birmingham UK TECHtionary and NACSE Certification TECHtionary also provides key terms and concepts for preparation of the NACSE – National Association of Communications Systems Engineers (www.nacse.com). Some of the certifications that TECHtionary will provide guidance are NTA – NACSE Telecom Technician, NTSC – NACSE Telecommunications Sales Consultant and NTSE – NACSE Telecommunications Sales Executive-Engineer level certifications. TECHtionary can be accessed anytime-anywhere to learn how things work, view real photos and understand what’s-what. Effective 11-1-05 © TECHtionary Corporation - www.techtionary.com Page 8 TECHtionary and NACSE Certification – more NACSE's role is to provide vendor-neutral certification to the IT industry. TECHtionary is a fast track vendor-neutral information resource designed to help learners get in-depth education on information technology that leads to several NACSE certifications. We understand that learners today do not always have time or resources to attend formal classroom training and may already have substantial knowledge and experience in the IT field. This is why TECHtionary is so critical because learners can gather important information and get the keys to comprehensive courses online whenever they need to. This saves the learner time and money and provides the employer with more effective and efficient employees.“ Bob Kile - NACSE Executive Director Industry Associations using TECHtionary “This is to provide a recommendation concerning the use of TECHtionary. The CTA-Colorado Telecommunications Association has utilized the TECHtionary product on the homepage of its web site for more than a year. As you know, TECHtionary provides definitions for specific telephony and technology terms – but does so with the use of graphics, charts and visuals in a manner that makes the product uniquely useful and educational. We have found that TECHtionary helps our member company employees gain a better understanding of technology and its ever-changing terminology – particularly for those with an interest in learning about next generation networks. It has also been useful to our company members in aiding them to provide explanations to their own customers about their products and services. TECHtionary is a product that could help provide a better understanding of industry terms and applications for your members and customers just as it has for the membership of the Colorado Telecommunications Association.” Barry L. Hjort - Executive Vice President - CTA “As President of the Telecommunications Agent Association I understand the plight of telecom and data agents, systems integrators and VAR-Value Added Resellers. I also understand the challenges faced by carriers, service providers, and hardware manufacturers. Each is caught in a conflict balancing customer need with products, services and professional guidance. There is no easy answer in today's multi-vendor, multi-protocol and complex user situation when it comes to everyone to understand the technology that’s up for purchase. Understanding the problem is the easy part. Presenting solutions and considering all the issues and most importantly, educating all the players is the hard part. Even if money was not the issue, and it usually is, finding the time, venue and topics make it even more problematic that people would walk away with the answers they are looking for. That is why TECHtionary is such a great solution. The animated-tutorials provide user-friendly explanations in terms that everyone can understand. TECHtionary also allows agents and all the relevant parties to go to "class" whenever from anywhere. Now I don't know that TECHtionary is the ultimate answer, not sure what is but it is certainly the best thing there is today. That is why a link is on every page of TAA’s web site at www.telecomagent.org It is also why we are producing TelecomTechTalks (www.telecomtechtalk.com), a weekly webinars using TECHtionary’s flash animation. I strongly urge you to use TECHtionary, TelecomTechTalk-like service and other services to get their prospects and distributors past the “analyzing part” to the “buying part.” Daniel Baldwin – President Telecommunications Agent Association. Effective 11-1-05 © TECHtionary Corporation - www.techtionary.com Page 9 Industry Publications using TECHtionary TECHtionary has been selected by more industry publications and associations than any other information resource. Publications and associations include but not limited to: Telecommunications magazine, Business Communications Review, X-Change magazine, Phone+ Magazine, Telecommunications Agents Association, Computor Edge magazine, ISPworld, Competitive Telecommunications Association, Society of Cable Television Engineers, ISIM University, Virtual High Schools of America, Maine Telecommunications Association, Missouri Telecommunications Association, CABA (Continental Automated Buildings Association), International Center for Standards Research, The Educators' Website for InformationTechnology, Broadband Wireless Online, Society of Telecommunications Consultants and many other others. "Business Communications Review (BCR) is the leading publication in the telecommunications industry. We use TECHtionary because it's an indepth reference source and incredibly user friendly." Fred S. Knight - Editor/Publisher - Business Communications Review -- www.bcr.com "TECHtionary combines the power of the Internet, the PC and multimedia to help us instantly comprehend communications technologies from every angle. From the telecom novice to the technically astute, the enormous power and value of TECHtionary is evident immediately to the user." Jared Bazzy, Managing Web Editor, Telecommunications(R) Magazine TECHtionary is referenced on more than 6,800+ web sites around the world (Source: Google) with users from more than 50 countries everyday accessing the terms and tutorials. Here is an unsolicited review of TECHtionary in Lockergnome – Technology News for the World’s Most Curious Users . “My mother started this habit of jumping up and down whenever I start talking too technical about her computer. She says she has to jump because she is trying to catch all that information that is over her head. Now this is an extreme case, of course, but all of us, at one time or another, have felt that something technology-related was over our heads. Wouldn't it just be a lot easier if there WERE an online dictionary related to technology? Well, there is now! TECHtionary is an online technology dictionary that doesn't just give you the definition of a technology term; in most cases it will show you an animation to help you learn what the term means. There have been times when someone has rattled off an acronym and because I knew the device by its actual name, I was lost. That's no longer a problem, now that I can look it up. Oh, and by the way? Now my mother doesn't have to invest so much money in sneakers with ankle support.” http://www.lockergnome.com/issues/daily/20020930.html The animated definitions are what makes Techtionary a learning resource bordering on actual fun. I clicked on the "New" square, found "Dial-Stepper" and wound up watching a brief video from "Dial M for Murder" that shows the Dial-Stepper, uh, stepping. It's kind of a Learning Adventure, this Techtionary concept. You don't know exactly what you're going to get when you ask for a definition. And it's that mystery, that potential for surprise, that makes the whole thing as fun as it is informative. What I found particularly instructive in playing with this is that the balance between information and entertainment is in itself quite an art. If the information isn't comprehensive and comprehensible, the entertainment really isn't that entertaining. TECHtionary is an ideal tool for vendors with technologies “in search of customers.” Customers are besieged with the accelerating pace of technologies. Our own assessment of the dot-bomb failure is that technology providers, including carriers, failed to educate their staff and customers on the applications of their products/services. Customers want to understand the technology before they buy not after. They also want to buy from a person who understands how all the technologies fit together including the vast array of legacy systems.
