Erasmus Impact Study 2014
• “Effects of mobility on the skills and employability of
students and the internationalisation of higher education
institutions”
• A large survey by European Comission
• feedback from nearly 80 000 respondents including
students and businesses.
• confirms
– EU student exchange scheme boosts employability and job
mobility
– Young people who study or train abroad not only gain
knowledge in specific disciplines, but also strengthen key
transversal skills which are highly valued by employers.
SCI:n opiskelijoiden kokemukset (2010-2013)
• tuotantotalouden opiskelijoiden syksyllä tekemä harjoitustyö
• perustuu SCI:n vaihdossa olleiden opiskelijoiden kirjoittamiin
vaihtoraportteihin.

A majority (over 70%) of Aalto University students considered the
exchange study have positive influences on their academic achievements.
72% assert that their exchange study has enhanced their employment

 Erasmus scholarship amounts will be different from the scholarhships to
other destinations
- according to the destination country and the lenght of the stay
 Obilgatory online language test before and after the exchange + possibillity
for online language course
- does not affect on getting the exchange place
 Global Mindset –questionary + exchange reporting in Mobility Tool
 Additional scholarship for Erasmus exchange student with under aged
children (200 €/month)
 language certificate of the language of the studies (not the native
language as so far)
> note, the field specific destinations still apply!
 All Erasmus destinations are equally open for all the SCI students (no
priviledges based on study fields)

International Studies Minor
• Vaihto-opintojen helppo ja sujuva sisällyttäminen
tutkintoon
• Jos haluat tuoda kansainvälisen osaamisesi
korostetusti esille tutkinnossasi
• 20-25 ECTS, voi olla sivuaine tai valinnaisten
opintojen kokonaisuus joko kandi- tai
maisteritutkinnossa
• Sisältö:
– Vähintään 15 op oman alan opintoja
– Enintään 10 op kieli ja kulttuuriopintoja (poikkeuksena erityiset vaihtoohjelmat, joissa sisältönä pelkästään kieltä ja kulttuuria, esim. Japanin ja
Kiinan kohteissa)
– Enintään 5 op mahdollista korvata Aalto-yliopiston kursseilla mikäli
20-25 op vaatimus ei täyty vaihtoajan opinnoilla
– Suositeltuja sisältöjä: kielikurssit (edistynyt taso), kulttuurienvälisen
viestinnän kurssit, kansainvälisesti suuntautuneet oman alan kurssit
– Ei voi sisältää kandi- tai DI-työtä eikä lähtökohtaisesti kv-harjoittelua

• If a certain CERF level is required by the exchange destination,
the language certificate must show that this level has been
reached.
• It is only possible to show your level, if you have completed a
certain level course in Aalto University.
• All language center English language courses are at at least B2
-level.
• TOEFL/IELTS normally suitable instead of CERF-test

Aalto University grants an exchange scholarship for
every student getting Aalto’s exchange place.
exchanges place = automatic Aalto scholarship for exchange studies
The objective for exchange studies and prerequisite for getting
the scholarship is to gain 30cr/semester

In general, applying is rather
independent process and requires
tolerance for uncertanity…
How to apply?
1. Choose your destination/-s
2. Choose the courses per destination,
make a study plan per destination
3. Get the study plans accepted by the study planning officer
and professor
4. Get the other application documents:
- language certificate/-s
- transcript of records
- ect.
5. Fill in the online application, attach the documents as PDF
to the application, send, print as PDF and return the PDFdocument together with the original documents to the
coordinator of the first destination
