The CoC and ACS CAN
The CoC’s advocacy objective is to work with
the American Cancer Society Cancer Action
Network (ACS CAN) in the area of legislative
and regulatory advocacy.
ACS CAN is a grassroots member
organization that gives cancer advocates the
opportunity to shape legislative agendas to
ensure that they include important cancer
issues.

The Goals of the American Cancer
Society Cancer Action Network
Making Cancer a Top National Priority by:
• Pressing key decision makers in the U.S. Congress to
make ACS CAN’s legislative initiatives their priorities
• Continuing to work with gubernatorial and state legislative
candidates to address our issues
• Supporting efforts to increase tobacco taxes, pass smokefree laws, and advance other mission objectives
• Educating candidates about the importance of increasing
cancer programs and research funding as well as the
importance of a plan for affordable and accessible health
care
