The Present Continuous
What is happening now?
The Present Continuous
• We use the present continuous when we talk
about something happening at the time of
speaking.
He is talking on the phone now.
They are walking home at the moment.
The Present Continuous
• We use the present continuous to describe situations
or actions which are in progress for a limited period.
She is studying for the English test this week.
The Present Progressive
Use Verb To Be in the present simple (am-is-are) + a verb with –ing.

Negative Statements
For negative statements, you can use “not.”

Silent -e
• When the base form of the verb ends with a silent –e
(not pronounced), drop the –e before adding –ing.
