Two CE Programs Available

UTPA Concurrent Enrollment
• Acceptable ACT or SAT composite score
 ACT 22 or higher; or
 SAT 1030 or higher
• Rank in Top 10% of graduating class
 Class rank and class size needed
• GPA of 90 or higher in academic courses
 Academic courses include English, math, natural sciences,
social studies, and foreign languages
 Physical education, music, and vocational courses not calculated
 GPA based on raw grades, not weighted grades
 Calculated using two most recent columns on transcript with
minimum of three semesters of grades

• Must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the beginning
of the next term (late submissions may be processed for
the next available term)
• Appeals will be forwarded to the Associate VicePresident for Enrollment and Student Services. The
decision of the Associate Vice-President is final.

SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria for students entering
Fall 2007 and after
Must have 4 courses (total of 12 hours) of AP credit and/or CE
credit earned at UTPA with a “B” or better in each course
(from four separate exams or courses in different subject
areas; credit must include both English 1301 or higher and
Math 1340* or higher) AND have a minimum ACT 22
composite or a minimum SAT score of 1030
OR
Be an International Baccalaureate Diploma recipient AND
have a minimum ACT 22 composite or a minimum SAT score
of 1030
Note: For students with 30+ACT who have English 1301 and 1302 waived, they must still take
Math 1340 plus 9 hours with a B or better in different subject areas.

• Must be an entering freshman who meets the criteria for
regular admission
• Qualifies for Texas “resident tuition”
• Graduated from a public or private school (or home school) in
one of the designated South Texas counties (Brooks,
Cameron, Duval, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Kenedy,
Kleberg, Nueces, Starr, Webb, Willacy, and Zapata counties)

BE ON TIME LOAN
PROGRAM
Be-On Time Facts
 The purpose of the Texas B-On-Time Loan
program is to provide eligible Texas students
no-interest loans to attend colleges and
universities in Texas. If the student meets
specified goals, the entire loan amount
can be forgiven upon graduation.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
 Have completed a FAFSA and be eligible to
receive federal financial aid Be enrolled full
time in an undergraduate degree or certificate
program at an eligible institution and Be a
Texas resident or be entitled to pay resident
tuition rates as a dependent child of a member
of the U.S. armed forces….
Eligibility Requirements Continued
Applicants must:
 and Have graduated in the 2002-2003
academic year or later from a high school
operated by the U.S. Department of Defense or
under the recommended high school program
from a public or accredited private high school
in Texas or
 Have earned an associate’s degree from an
eligible institution no earlier than May 1, 2005

 4-year public and private institutions:
$2,375/semester ($4,750/year)
 2-year public and private junior colleges:
$735/semester ($1,470/year)
 Public technical colleges: $1,325/semester

Renewal Eligibility
To maintain eligibility for future disbursements,
the student must:
• In the 1st Academic Year - make satisfactory academic
progress toward a degree or certificate as determined
by the institution.
• In the 2nd and Subsequent Academic Years - complete
at least 75 % of the semester credit hours attempted in
the most recent academic year and have a cumulative
GPA of at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent)
on all course work previously attempted at institutions
of higher education.
Loan Forgiveness Requirements
A Texas B-On-Time Loan shall be forgiven if the student receives an
undergraduate degree or certificate from an eligible institution and the
student either:
 graduated with a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on a four-point
scale, within:
 4 calendar years after the date the student initially enrolled in an
eligible institution,
 5 calendar years after the date the student initially enrolled in an
eligible institution, if the degree is in architecture, engineering, or
any other program determined by the board to require more than 4
years to complete; or
 2 calendar years after the date the student initially enrolled in a
public or private 2-year institution
UTPA ADVANTAGE
PROGRAM
UTPA Advantage Program
Requirements
Students meeting the qualifications listed below will have all tuition
and fee expenses for the regular academic year (fall and spring)
covered by grant and/or scholarship aid. Academic year enrollment
charges will be covered with different forms of gift aid, including
Federal, state, institutional (including the UTPA Advantage Grant)
and private forms of scholarships and grants. Students must:
 Have a family income of $25,000 or less as reported on the
FAFSA.
 Be classified as a Texas resident.
 Be enrolled for 15 hours or more per semester.
 Be enrolled as an undergraduate in a degree-seeking program.
UTPA Advantage Program
Requirements
 Have filed the FAFSA for the upcoming academic year by the
March 1 Financial Aid Priority Deadline.
 Be making satisfactory academic progress as defined by financial
aid guidelines.
 UTPA Advantage is available for a maximum of eight semesters or
until graduation, whichever occurs first. Program funding each
academic year is contingent upon availability of funds. Late
payment fees, late registration fees, excess credit hour fees, class
repeat fees, drop fees, and any fees for auxiliary services (such as
parking or citation fees) are not covered by UTPA Advantage.
