District 7450 Charitable Foundation
Named in honor of Guy Gundaker
 District Foundation founder
 Charter Member – Philadelphia Rotary
 Club President – Philadelphia Rotary – 1914-17
 Rotary International President – 1923-24 !

Rotary District 7450

Gundaker Foundation Structure
Executive Committee:
President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and
Sargeant-at-Arms, plus the Committee Chairpersons
and ex officio members
Ex-officio Members:
District Governor (DG), Immediate Past District
Governor (IPDG), and the District Governor-Elect (DGE)
Club Representatives:
Each Club has a designated Gundaker “Director” who
represents the club at the Gundaker meetings
Meetings:
Directors meet first Monday of each month.

Funding
Gundaker Foundation has distributed over
$2 million since inception
80% of all funds distributed by Gundaker remain
within our District.
Each D7450 Club donates a minimum of
$10/member/year
Club members are encouraged to donate annually.
Suggested: $75/member/year
Recognition Level – “Gundaker Fellow” = $1,000

Local Grants
Grants are “matching”- Club must provide at least the
amount requested from the Foundation
Maximum awards: $1,000 per project
Grant applications accepted on a “rolling" basis.
Grants awards must be “brick and mortar” projects:
- purchasing supplies/equipment, renovation,
construction, etc.
- NOT for operating expenses (e.g. salaries)

Approval Process for Local and
International Grants
Proposal submitted to Committee
Committee presents the project for “first
reading” at the Gundaker Foundation meeting –
directors pose questions or request additional
information, as needed.
Committee presents the project for “second
reading” at a subsequent meeting and presents
motion for approval vote.
The process usually takes two months.

Scholarships - Undergraduate Grants
Full-time junior and senior level undergraduate studies in colleges and
universities (first apply as sophomores)
Awards range from $1,000 to $4,000
Recipients submit all application materials to a local club – Must receive
Club endorsement
Renewable - may be selected again for an additional award
Qualifications:
- High academic achievement (3.0 GPA minimum)
- Record of leadership in school, community, etc.
- Involvement in Service to others
- Financial need - optional

Must be full-time students.
Only two (2) sponsored applications from each Club.

- January 15: applicant to sponsoring Clubs
- February 15: Club to Undergraduate Grants Committee

Scholarships - Graduate Grants
One-year Graduate Grants for post-baccalaureate studies in
graduate and professional schools.
Residents of District 7450 or enrolled in an institution
located within the District.
Must enroll in a graduate program during the fall term of
the following academic year as a new or continuing student.
Applications due …
- February 14: applicant to sponsoring Clubs
- March 17: Club to Graduate Grants Committee

Scholarships - Graduate Grants
Only two (2) sponsored applications from each
Club.
Club endorsement implies they have conducted a
selection process before forwarding the
application to the Committee.
Applications submitted via email in Microsoft
Word or PDF format.
All elements of the application must be included;
incomplete applications will not be considered.

Youth Exchange
A study-abroad opportunity for young people
Spend from a few weeks to a full year as an
international student hosted by local Rotary Clubs.
Requirements:
- Ages 15–19
- Demonstrated leadership in school & community
- Flexibility and willingness to try new things
- Open to cultural differences
- Can serve as an ambassador for their own country

Youth Exchange
The Gundaker Foundation sponsors activities
for the Youth Exchange Program inbound
participants from other countries hosted by
District 7450 .
We also provide scholarships for outbound
students who have financial need.
