PSC-CUNY Research Grants
• Approx $3.5 million from the CUNY personal budget is
allocated to research support in this program. Goes up with
each contract since it is related to the total compensation.
• Currently split equally among all of the disciplines
• Most Faculty at Zicklin Apply to Social Sciences-Finance,
Accounting/Management Marketing and Administration

Amounts of Funding
• First year pool:
– all projects go to the the central committee and
they award in the $5,000 range, new maximum
is $6,000.
• Others:
– Non tenured: at least 2/3 of the areas money
goes to this group.
– Tenured: no more than 1/3 goes to this group.

Characteristics of A Successful
Proposal
• Well written and focused. You have only
five pages. Your review will only be 3-5
sentences.
• Suggest work that is more than half way
done. All grant agencies want to support
winners.
• Data for well defined projects is easy to
support.

• Research help (summer funding for doctoral students)
• Data Bases (See Library)

– WRDSX-Check to see what data bases we do not get
and you would like.
• Travel (Travel costs for attending or presenting papers at
meetings of professional associations, conferences,
seminars and workshops will not be supported. Only
registration fees for conferences will be supported. )
• Misc. supplies
• Professional computer support
• Not summer salary due to salary guidelines.

PSC-CUNY 41 Changes
Summer Salary for 2010 The summer salary cap for
2010 will increase from $71,974 to $74,133 per 20072010 PSC-CUNY Contract ratified on September 3,
2008. If an applicant requests summer salary, the
sum of his/her gross academic salary and summer
salary cannot exceed $74,133, the top salary for the
assistant professor scale not including the longevity
steps of the ratified contact effective October 10,
2008. Calculations should be based on salary levels as
of January 1, 2010 for the summer 2010 with the
exception of faculty on sabbatical.
