A long distance view of the church from the south
The small bell tower and spire are in the centre of the picture,
with the top of the Lady Chapel immediately to their left.
The distinctive tower of neighbouring Merchant Taylors’ School
rises from the trees to the right.
The view looking south east from
Merchant Taylors’ School playing fields .
The west window catches the sun; the spire rises behind.
The Vicarage for the
United Benefice of St Faith
and St Mary the Virgin,
Waterloo Park, stands in
the church grounds to the
west of the church itself.
The view from the garden
over the trees shows the
distinctive buttresses, the
Lady Chapel walls and
the bell tower and spire.
The view towards the back of the church from the pulpit.
St Faith’s is perhaps not always as well filled as it was
for this special service!
The High Altar
from the
choir stalls
One of the seven
hanging sanctuary
lamps is in view,
together with the fine
Salviati reredos
behind the altar
In this view of the High Altar from the choir stalls
the glowing colours of the central panel of the reredos
are seen to good advantage behind the processional cross.
The Lord Runcie
memorial
window
This window, to be found at the west end of the church next to
the south porch entrance, commemorates Robert Runcie, one-time server
at St Faith’s who became Archbishop of Canterbury, together with all others
who found their vocation to the priesthood at our church.
The Centenary Banners
These hangings, created and hung in 2000 as part of our
centenary celebrations, record landmarks in the hundred years of
our church’s existence, as well as marking events in the area
and in the wider world during that period.
The ‘Rabbit
Madonna’
This fine statue, the work
of the Anglican nun
Sister Maribel of Wantage,
stands at the entrance to the Lady Chapel.
It takes its name from the rabbits at
Mary’s feet (detail above).
Another distinctive feature
is the toe count on the
Christ child’s right foot!
The statue
of Saint Faith
This statue of our
patroness shows her
bearing the palm of
martyrdom and carrying
a book
The Great
Crucifix
This almost life-size statue of
Christ on the cross hangs in the
Chapel of the Cross in the north transept.
During Holy Week it forms the focus of
worship when it is moved to the choir
